How an immersive campus changed an institute…and a university
In this session, we pull back the curtain on Do Good Plaza at the University of Maryland, a collection of immersive campus exhibits including the "Rings," a 12-foot sensor-activated sculpture that greets visitors with light, sound, and real student voices, and "Students Change the World," an interactive touchscreen exhibit that puts life-size impact stories right in the hallway. We'll share what drove the design decisions, how human-centered storytelling became the backbone of the experience, and how we're measuring its impact on recruitment, retention, and engagement. The conversation will touch on placemaking, content strategy, and building internal advocates — with honest reflection on what scaled and what didn't. You'll leave with practical ideas and a replicable framework for turning your own space, whatever its size or budget, into a living brand asset.
