We Are All Lifelong Learners Now – One University’s Experience in Supporting Alumni in Learning
The National University of Singapore (NUS) has provided continuing education alongside degree programmes for decades. In the last 10 years, as the lifelong learning movement gathered pace in Singapore, the university also began to rationalise and coordinate the lifelong learning programme for alumni across its many schools and departments. In this session, we will discuss how we obtained a better understanding of our alumni’s needs in lifelong learning in 2023, and how the data gathered from various sources helped to inform our plans and decisions. We will also discuss: what we tried, some dead ends we arrived at, and what has worked for us. Join us for this conversation as we would love to hear what is working for your institution too in this area - or trade war stories!

Generation Next: Unlocking New Donors by Honouring New Graduates
This session explains how the Annual Giving team at The University of Queensland leveraged the efforts of their peers to challenge an operational standard, creating an outcome that has defied historic forecasting models for the better.
Over the last few years, UQ's alumni engagement team transformed the alumni experience through introducing unique benefits and attractive opportunities. Today, the team boasts a diverse engagement program that has spiked the interests of the population at record breaking numbers, often times with events selling out within minutes of going live.
How did UQ's Annual Giving team harness this interest to acquire new donors?
Through an integrated and innovative approach, the Annual Giving team made a shift in their operations after uncovering promising indicators from their 2022 Telephone Engagement Campaign. The team launched the New Grad Pilot program to support fundraising and engagement initiatives using data-backed strategies. Aiming to strategically and proactively celebrate and welcome new alumni to the community, this dual point focus allowed the team to explore alternative solutions on a small population before committing to a large-scale initiative.
The results? Remarkable. The New Grad Pilot tripled non-donor contact rates and and nearly doubled non-donor participation – all while gathering purposeful data that will benefit our entire department with valuable insights for years to come.
Key Takeaways:
• Implement innovative solutions to increase fundraising potential with younger populations, inspired by UQ's New Grad Pilot program.
• Recognize the strategic significance of data collection and management for personalised outreach and effective donor cultivation.
• Identify opportunities to leverage integrated advancement teams for fundraising and engagement.
Speakers: Laura Terry, Campaign Manager, University of Queensland

Unconventional Prospecting
Give me the money! Too often, fundraisers and institutional leaders tunnel vision when assessing the breadth of potential donors available to them. How many times have we been in a meeting, and required to come up with intricate strategies in order to specifically only target ‘Rich Listers’, the biggest businesses, MNCs and the most high profile foundations?
With so many gatekeepers between them and you, as well as a long line of other organisations also seeking funding from such high-profile prospects, though we are not advocating to ignore such potential donors, however the fact of the matter remains that quite often, travelling down the less beaten path can more often yield greater return on investment.
Today, we are going to explore the topic of unconventional prospecting. From the types of prospects, we seek out, to the strategies employed in order to find your next major donor.
Through this session, we will take you through the path to experience the excitement of reaching out to unconventional prospects. Participants will gain insights into how unconventional prospecting happens through the contrasting experiences of two institutions in very different stages in very different cultural settings.
Speakers: Abel Orellana, Head of Development, Clinical Medicine, UNSW Medicine & Health, Eugene Lee, Assistant Director of the Advancement Office, Singapore University of Social Sciences, Lucy Moore, Senior Development Manager (Donor Engagement), Queensland University of Technology
