    What is AMAtlas?

    AMAtlas collects advancement data

AMAtlas is CASE’s global resource for advancement research, metrics, and analytics. AMAtlas is comprised of the CASE Global Reporting Standards and associated benchmarking surveys on fundraising, alumni relations, and marketing and communications. AMAtlas also conducts research and reports on professional practice and emerging issues of interest to advancement professionals.

AMAtlas helps you understand advancement data

AMAtlas highlights trends in advancement data from our surveys and research projects in a variety of reports and presentations. AMAtlas also provides data access to institutions that participate in benchmarking surveys, along with personalized reports with peer comparisons for several surveys that help highlight the data that matter most.

AMAtlas assists your data-driven decision making

Much like an actual atlas, AMAtlas can provide you with global or local insight, can help point you in the right direction, can provide the opportunity to explore, and can help you understand the context for data-based decision making. Whether your organization is in higher education, further education, or is an independent school, you can benefit from the work that CASE does through AMAtlas. And you’ve find that no matter what region you are in—North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, or Latin America—there is AMAtlas research of value to you.

How can AMAtlas help my institution?

    Graphical Program Summary (GPS) Reports

GPS ReportsCompleting an AMAtlas survey unlocks additional opportunities for research and analysis.  In addition to helping shape important research in educational advancement, you will also have access to visual results and expert guidance.  Survey respondents¹ receive a Graphical Program Summary (GPS) Report that shows key metrics compared to a set of defined peer institutions.  The goal is that you may use this report to prioritize next steps, conduct your own further analysis through Data Miner (available to any CASE member), or partner with CASE by purchasing additional services, such as Made-to-Order Reports or Facilitated Cohorts. These additional services provide your institution with deeper, interactive analysis, individualized reviews of results, and connect with you similar peers to learn the stories behind the data.

¹As of April 2021, GPS reports are available for respondents to the VSE, CASE-CCAE, and AEM surveys.  These will be rolled out to all survey respondents over the next year.

    Made-To-Order CASE GPS Reports

Made-To-Order GPS ReportsCASE Members can purchase a Made-to-Order GPS Report, an in-depth version of the GPS Report, which includes up to 20 peers of your choice.  Delivery includes a 60-minute, web-based session with your team (as well as a preliminary 60-minute preview with CASE staff to review results with key stakeholders prior to the official review).

    AMAtlas FAQs

CASE has announced on July 15, 2018, the creation of a new global resource—AMAtlas—for educational advancement-related metrics, benchmarks and analytics. This new initiative will serve as a comprehensive, data-rich resource for schools, universities and colleges that are eager to use data to inform their work in alumni relations, communications, fundraising, marketing and allied areas of advancement.

The data collected will be used to help inform thought leadership, best practices, curriculum for conferences, webinars, articles and advocacy efforts.

As part of the announcement, CASE has acquired, from the Council for Aid to Education (CAE), the Voluntary Support of Education (VSE) annual survey, its associated historical U.S. and Canadian data and Data Miner—an interactive online database.

CASE already conducts more than 20 surveys globally, including the Ross-CASE Survey and the CASE Compensation Survey. These surveys, along with the VSE Survey—recognized as the definitive resource of charitable giving to education institutions in the United States—will be key parts of the new resource.

AMAtlas is operated by CASE. AMAtlas is led by CASE's new chief research and data officer and a team of longtime CASE staff, as well as the staff members who are part of VSE.

All of CASE's existing surveys that gather data on advancement outcomes, compensation and magazine readership, are part of AMAtlas.

The goal is to create a single resource for CASE members worldwide on educational advancement-related outcomes, with the data used to help inform thought leadership, best practices, curriculum for conferences, webinars, articles and advocacy efforts.

CASE is forming an "AMAtlas Advisory Committee" with two co-chairs—Lori Houlihan of the University College London and Charlie Phlegar of Virginia Tech—and representation from across the CASE membership. In addition, CASE will continue to rely on the advisory committees and task forces that are already in place for specific CASE survey and research instruments.

Participating in CASE survey instruments is considered a benefit of membership.

CASE expects that DRIVE/ will be a key event at which CASE can present information coming out of AMAtlas. CASE also anticipates that it will report on AMAtlas findings at other CASE events, in Currents magazine and on the CASE website.
