12:10–1:00 Multimedia in 2020: How Do We Engage
We all know that we should be peppering our social media presence and web content with engaging photos, videos, and audio -- but why? We'll take a deeper dive into the psychology of multimedia interaction and why it's so important to our communications with Gen Z.
1:00–2:00 What it really takes to produce successful videos
Whether it be for a social media campaign or the start of an event, video is an ever-important tactic for us in higher ed. Yet, it can be hard to get our videos just right. No matter the size of your team (or if it’s just you!), you can find the balance of quantity and quality of videos. We’ll discuss 1) why video is so important 2) how to produce videos on your own 3) challenges and strategies for groups that produce videos and 4) tips to help you efficiently produce video content.
2:15–3:15 Creating compelling images for all platforms
Strong images are essential to attracting and keeping an audience, especially in this day and age where people are inundated with tons of visual stimuli at all hours of the day. More than ever, the images you create and share need to be thoughtful and purposeful. We’ll talk about what makes an image successful, how to develop a personal connection between you and the person you photograph and how to produce compelling images with anything from smartphones to higher-end cameras that can be used across multiple platforms, from your primary website to Instagram, Twitter and beyond.
3:15–4:15 No More Talking Heads: Producing a Better Podcast Interview
Nothing makes your listeners hit "skip" on your podcast episode faster than a boring, drawn-out interview. In this workshop, we'll practice asking questions that generate great tape, editing down long-winded answers, and writing scripts that help the audience grasp complex ideas.
4:30–5:15 What’s in my bag? Faculty Show and Tell
Learn from the faculty as they share different equipment they always have on hand as well as different software and tools they rely on.
5:15–5:30 Introduction to the Group Project
Faculty to share instructions and goals for the hands-on group project on day 2. Meet your fellow group members to start to brainstorm and define roles. Stay tuned! More information and instructions to be provided closer to the program.
5:30–6:30 Networking Reception
Join conference faculty and your colleagues to network and unwind after Day 1. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres and drink tickets will be provided. Don't forget your business cards!

Once we've created our brilliant content, how can we effectively deliver it to our audiences? Our faculty experts will share some of their top tips for increasing views, clicks, and engagement on social and web to meet business goals.
