Transforming the VSE Report Generating Process
The New York University (NYU) Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) Business Intelligence team and the Creighton University University Relations (UR) Advancement Services teams will take you on a journey and share how they were able to transform the VSE report generating processes.

In our session, we will discuss how we leverage the VSE report standard guidelines to standardize our reports. We will also go into a deeper discussion on the Oracle views, Stored procedures SQL programming and SQL Server Reporting Service Business Intelligence solutions.
Unclogging your Donor Pipeline
As Maryland’s oldest historically black university tradition, community and identity are vitally important to supporters of Bowie State University, but traditional fundraising practices were not generating the opportunities needed to advance its mission. Brent Swinton and his team saw the need to introduce modern donor engagement strategies to reinvigorate Bowie State’s loyal alumni and friends, without losing the essence of what it means to be a Bulldog.
Today, Bowie State is redefining how annual giving, major giving, and constituent relations work together to more effectively engage, cultivate, and steward donors through the major gift pipeline. Cohesive storytelling, collaborative donor management, and realigning roles and staff are just a few of the strategies that we’ll share during this session. By flipping the pyramid upside down and focusing on how they can best capture and retain annual donors, Bowie State is utilizing its resources more strategically to funnel its donor prospects on their path to major giving.
New Team, Same Alumni: A One-Year Plan for a New Team with Ambitious Goals
During a year of upheaval, the Arcadia University Alumni Engagement team went through a major restructuring, with new leaders, new staff, and new goals. With only a short time to build a strong team that could succeed in change management and restore trust with our alumni, the team was able to do that -- and more. In this session, you will learn about the team’s one-year roadmap to team formation and success in restoring alumni loyalty, volunteerism, philanthropy, and trust.
Negotiation Skills Needed To Be A Successful Fundraiser

In this session you will learn how to avoid the common mistakes fundraisers make when closing gifts, incorporate flexibility into gift conversations, and develop competent and assertive responses without being a ‘yes’ person. Join fellow major- and principal-gift officers to take your fundraising skills to the next level. Negotiators wanted!
The Newark School That Could: $100 Million Campaign Success

Managing Uncertainty Through the Practice of Adaptive Leadership
Individuals in leadership positions play a key role in guiding internal and external stakeholder groups through times of disruption. This session will discuss the practice of adaptive leadership, in the context of the Institutional Advancement (IA) field, to provide a strategy for managing chaos, uncertainty, and rapid change, through collaboration, learning, and reflection. It will explore how professionals who hold—or aspire to—leadership roles can implement this process, sustain their leadership practice, manage stress on internal and external stakeholder groups, and build capacity to successfully navigate short- and long-term challenges.
Leadership Styles in Fundraising
This seminar-style presentation will be a deep dive into each participant's leadership style through Roger von Oech's theory of the Explorer, Artist, Judge, and Warrior. The purpose of this session will be for each participant to find out their strengths and weaknesses in the day-to-day job of being a fundraiser, based on what comes naturally to their leadership style.
A Transformative Partnership
Donor Relations professionals are tasked with supporting fundraisers’ efforts in building and maintaining successful relationships with donors and prospects to maximize fundraising potential. The predictable is not always possible, and familiar stewardship strategy has given way to the extraordinary. In a fundraising world challenged by accessibility, stewardship officers must pivot into the virtual world of acknowledging and engaging donors to help them fully comprehend the impact and importance of their giving.
Restrictions for in-person donor engagement provided both challenges and new opportunities. The growing need to acknowledge donors with innovative stewardship strategies – virtual, digital, and video – provides an important opportunity to reimagine personalized gratitude content that showcases the value of a donor’s lifetime of philanthropy.
Two Communities One College – Branch Campus Fundraising
Many two and 4-year colleges and universities include a central campus and any number of branch campuses that are sometimes described as “the other campus” and may not receive the same attention and resources as the “main campus.” Each campus that is part of the larger institution has its own identity, culture and community. Learn how Northampton Community College created a successful fundraising strategy for their “main” and branch campuses using data and examples from its recent $20 million Transforming Lives campaign. The session welcomes discussions of attendee’s challenges implementing a successful fundraising strategy for a branch campus.
