Bio

Seema Surani is the Assistant Director, Alumni Relations at University of Chicago's Harris School of Public Policy, where she brings a diverse range of experience in fundraising, communications, alumni engagement, and event management. She oversees Harris alumni events and communications, manages alumni engagement through liaising with regional chapters and overseeing the HarrisAlumniConnect platform, manages young alumni reunion, and supports the ARD team in developing strategies to enhance meaningful alumni engagement and giving. Prior to her work at Harris, Seema was a Development Associate at Hadley Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired. At Hadley, she led all outreach and communications projects, created annual appeal mailings, managed the donor database, and engaged students and donors via social media platforms. She also previously worked at Toronto’s Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation, where she actively brought new individual and corporate donors into the organization by making discovery calls. She also managed all cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities for a portfolio of major donors. Seema holds a bachelor of arts degree with honors in health studies from Queen’s University in Kingston, ON. She also holds a fundraising management certificate from Ryerson University in Toronto. Seema recently completed Master's in Public Policy and Administration at Northwestern University.
