Bio

I graduated from the University of St Andrews in 2023 with a joint honours degree in Film Studies and International Relations.

During my studies I particularly enjoyed looking at why certain production choices are made in the media we engage with - whether labour practices, capital interests, international law or contemporary societal trends - and theorising new ways to approach the process.

Alongside this academic focus, I became increasingly involved with fundraising activities - and had a great time doing so! In my first year I became involved with the students’ union Charities Campaign, eventually working my way up to become the fundraising co-ordinator in my final year.

In this role I was able to I was able to use the experience I’d accrued in the previous years to aid the campaign’s own fundraising efforts - such as the annual hitchhiking race and fashion show - as well as supporting other student-run fundraisers across the student body. Outside term time I undertook internships with the St Andrews Development office where I trialled new methods of video-based stewardship, reported on their use of digital media engagement and generally assisted the team.

These internships were not only great fun, but further cement in my mind the impact that educational fundraising can have on peoples’ lives outside of the education it provides. As such, I’m looking forward to the CASE scheme for how it allows me to develop my skills and build on previous experience by becoming part of a team of people seeking to make a difference in the lives of students and researchers.
