    What are AMAtlas Facilitated Cohorts?

AMAtlas Facilitated Cohort groups provide benchmarking in philanthropy, alumni relations, and communications and marketing. Comprised of 12–18 institutions each, these groups provide participating institutions with customized analysis and an opportunity to convene in-person to better understand benchmarks and trends in order to guide strategic change.

    How the Process Works:

    Submit Surveys

CASE administers fundraising and alumni relations surveys (e.g. VSE and Alumni Engagement Metrics Surveys).

    Research conducted by AMAtlas Team

AMAtlas team checks data to ensure accuracy.

    Graphical Program Summary (GPS)

Receive in-depth, customized analysis comparing your institution's performance with  both peers and the sector at-large.

    Review Results

Meet online with AMAtlas staff to review the results of each custom report.

    Cohort  Data Presentation

Each participant receives a presentation with detailed results from all facilitated cohort participants used to guide conversations at the in-person meetings.

    Attend In-Person Meetings

    FAQs:

CASE is initially creating three unique benchmarking groups by practice area – philanthropy, alumni relations, and communications and marketing.  Over time, these groups will expand and will be tailored more to specific peers based on the needs of member institutions that take part.  Upon signing up for a group, CASE will provide a list of all other participants.

    • Philanthropy – For US-based higher ed institutions, participation in the VSE Survey for the past six years.  Institutions will be given the opportunity to fill in data for past years.  Participants will also be asked to provide basic supplementary data to overlay with fundraising trends.
    • Alumni Relations – Participation in the inaugural Alumni Engagement Metrics (AEM) Survey.  The 2019 AEM survey is currently open through Janaury 31, 2020.  Participants will also be asked to provide basic supplemental data to overlay with engagement results.  This data will also be correlated with VSE survey data for a deeper focus on the relationship between engagement and philanthropy.
    • Communications and Marketing – Participants will be asked to fill out a survey to better understand selected core metrics that relate to communications and marketing.  Participants are also asked to complete the inaugural Alumni Engagement Metrics (AEM) Survey so that data may be incorporated into these sessions where appropriate.

CASE is proud that many of its Educational Partners already provide benchmarking services.  Based upon feedback from members to-date, we believe there also is an opportunity for CASE to provide these services around core CASE data sets - specifically establishing and discussing key metrics pertinent to analysis and benchmarks - without these services competing with the work of our Educational Partners.  We anticipate the organizations who do take part in other benchmarking opportunities will continue to derive deep value from them, as those services provide a layer of deeper analysis.  There also is a broad group of CASE members who are unable to participate in those services given the price points.  The practice-area benchmarking groups as established by CASE  will look at advancement holistically to maximize strategic change on key horizon issues defined by CASE members and volunteers.

CASE is launching the AMAtlas Facilitated Cohorts in the U.S. initially but plans to expand to other regions.  Please let us know if your institution is interested in CASE bringing the cohorts to your region.

Content will evolve as surveys change.  For example, CASE volunteers are currently creating AMAtlas Core Metrics, which are three to five comparative metrics specifically oriented toward the most senior leaders within the practice areas of philanthropy, alumni relations, and communications and marketing.  As the core metrics are determined, they will be added to the appropriate surveys for data collection and eventually will drive content discussed at cohort meetings.
