New advancement professionals who attend this session will establish a network of colleagues who are also new to advancement and who serve in similar and different roles. Together, they will learn how each of their roles contributes to and depends on other advancement functions to succeed. Part of the session will focus on self-awareness and career mapping. Attendees will interact with a panel of seasoned leaders in the profession—including Caltech vice president Dexter Bailey and UC Riverside vice chancellor Peter Hayashida—to gain advice for building careers in advancement.

Come armed with your questions and ideas for this interactive workshop featuring a panel of chief fundraisers and institutional leaders, where you will learn the role and effective engagement of a president in a campaign. The afternoon will also include a roundtable discussion to allow for peer sharing and learning and a presentation on how to prepare your whole institution for campaign readiness—particularly during a time of transition. Topics include partnering with interim leaders, shifts in decision-making and vision in a campaign-focused fundraising environment, and more.
