Winter Institute for
Chief Development Officers
Jan. 30–Feb. 1, 2019
Fort Myers, Florida
The Winter Institute explores the roles and responsibilities of today's chief development officers along with the principal challenges they face, helping them prepare for and succeed in meeting those challenges. The institute is designed for current CDOs, new CDOs, and other senior advancement professionals, as well as for those who work most closely with CDOs including presidents, executive directors and board members.
The institute encourages discussion among all participants—faculty and attendees. Rather than offering a series of presentations by individual speakers, all topics are covered by the entire group, with a moderated panel of faculty members leading each discussion segment. Our goal is to bring to the surface and address the most pressing issues being faced by participants, and in doing so, highlight common challenges as well as innovative approaches to fundraising leadership.
Excellence in fundraising and proficiency in the management of fundraisers are important, and we will discuss the CDO's role in shaping fundraising culture and building strong and effective teams. CDOs must also be, and be viewed as, strong contributors to the overall strategic leadership of their organizations. CDOs will receive practical advice on establishing productive working relationships with senior volunteer and administrative leaders and colleagues. This will include guidance on addressing the impact of financial pressures and related fundraising pressures felt by almost every organization.
The program starts at NOON on Wednesday and ends at NOON on Friday.
