John T. Shamblin Jr. Top Hand Award
A special award made as appropriate by the District to individuals who are not in the educational advancement profession, but who have given extraordinary service to the profession and to District IV.
Nominations are made by the District Chair at the suggestion of the Annual District Conference Committee Chair and/or past chairs. The District Executive Committee approves the nomination and the award is presented at the annual District conference.
About John T. Shamblin, Jr.
The award was named in honor of John T. Shamblin, Jr. Shamblin worked for many years for Evans Press in Fort Worth, printers of college catalogs among other specialties. He was named CASE IV Top Hand for his never-ending hospitality and making every member attending a conference feel welcome.
After he left Evans, he was the principle partner in another firm, CJM and Associates, and continued to serve CASE IV conference committees by helping to organize exhibitors and oversaw the conference’s hospitality suite. This is a role Shamblin treasured and held until his death in 1997.
