    From the Nominator

Duke hosts a virtual Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 11, 2020, to recognize and honor those who have served or are serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

The event features comments from President Vincent E. Price, Vice President for Administration Kyle Cavanaugh, Director of the Durham VA Paul Crews, Duke University Army, Navy, and Air Force ROTC color guard, the singing of the National Anthem by Logan Welborn (Duke class of 2022), reflections from Duke Veterans, and a wreath-laying and bagpipe tribute honoring fallen service members.

More than 1,130 faculty and staff at Duke have served in the armed forces, and an additional 444 Duke students have served or have current military affiliations.

    From the Judges

Excellent program with beautiful video. This was a well-executed virtual event, with a clear demonstration of goals. The inclusion of veterans sending in messages effectively enhanced this memorable event.
