CASE Names Virginia Carter Smith Scholars

CASE has named 20 individuals as the 2017-2018 Virginia Carter Smith Scholarship winners.

Each year, CASE grants a number of scholarships to cover the cost of conference registration fees for practitioners who are new to advancement or who have recently moved from one discipline to another.

Scholarship awards are based on career potential and professional experience, among other criteria.

Contact Stephanie Fisher for more information.

Nominate a New C&M Professional to be a SimpsonScarborough Scholar

Communications and marketing practitioners who are new to educational advancement are invited to apply for a SimpsonScarborough scholarship. The deadline for nominations is Friday, Nov. 17.

The SimpsonScarborough Scholars program supports the professional development of promising communications and marketing practitioners in educational advancement. As part of this development, scholars receive benefits, including:

  • Attendance at the Summer Institute for Communications and Marketing, CASE's flagship training program for newcomers to the communications and marketing field. The scholarship covers conference registration and potentially a portion of the recipient's travel and/or lodging
  • A copy of Christopher Simpson's book, Weathering the Storm: Protecting Your Brand in the Worst of Times
  • Credit at the CASE Store for additional book or publication purchases

CASE will also support the efforts of each scholar to:

  • Engage in peer-to-peer networking to help build his or her own career networks and
  • Contribute to activities that mentor the scholar's peers, campus colleagues and students interested in advancement careers.

Begin the online nomination process on the CASE website.

IRF Data Book Deadline Approaches

Friday, Nov. 17 2017, is the deadline to enter fundraising results from fiscal year 2017 into the IRF Data Book. The CASE IRF Data Book is designed to be a one-stop shop for institutionally related foundation executives and professionals interested in comparing data related to their foundation's structure, staffing and operations with their peers. Contact research@case.org for more information.

CASE Europe Development Services Survey Deadline Approaches

The CASE Europe Development Services Survey captures progress within the development and alumni relations professions while allowing institutions to share best practices. Increased participation allows participants to more effectively benchmark their programmes, comparing their operations and performance to peers and industry leaders and using this information for continuous improvement.

Institutions of all shapes, sizes and setups are encouraged to participate. The aim of the survey is to gain an accurate picture of development services in the sector as a whole, not just to collate the views of the largest, most complex or most heavily resourced operations.

The deadline for submissions is 3 November 2017. The results will be compiled by CASE, and, working with the survey committee, disseminated and discussed at the CASE Development Services Conference in November 2017.

  2. Email the full contact information (full name, designation, email and phone number) of the nominated colleague to sseah@case.org with reference to APARS.
