Lawmakers Introduce Bill to Repeal Endowment Excise Tax

U.S. representatives recently introduced the Don't Tax Higher Education Act (H.R. 5220), legislation that would repeal the 1.4 percent excise tax on the net investment income of certain private colleges and universities included in the new tax law.

U.S. Reps. Chris Smith, Henry Cuellar Introduce Universal Charitable Deduction Bill

On May 10, Reps Chris Smith, R-N.J., and Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, introduced the Charitable Giving Tax Deduction Act (H.R. 5771), a bill that would allow non-itemizing taxpayers to deduct charitable gifts without a limitation.
