President to Release Tax Reform Plan Soon

During remarks with airline executives, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he would release his tax plan in the coming weeks. He did not provide details on what would be in the plan.

Republicans on Capitol Hill have made comprehensive tax reform a top priority with the tax writing committees in both the House and Senate working on tax reform legislation. During the campaign, President Trump's tax plan included cuts to both individual and corporate tax rates and a $100,000 cap on itemized deductions for single taxpayers ($200,000 for married couples). It is unclear whether the new plan will include this itemized deduction cap or other proposals that would limit the value of the charitable deduction.

CASE, with our partners in the Charitable Giving Coalition, continues to urge the administration and Congress to preserve and protect the full scope and value of the charitable deduction. For the latest developments on tax reform and its potential impact on educational advancement, visit the CASE website.
