After 87 years, Chester Gryzbowski is finally a college freshman. The 105-year-old World War II veteran had hoped to study civil engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, but the war and the Great Depression interrupted his aspirations. In 2016, upon hearing about Gryzbowski's service to his country, his two Bronze Star medals, and his deferred educational dreams, Georgia Tech President G.P. "Bud" Peterson named him an honorary Yellow Jacket. Gryzbowski received a RAT Cap, the headgear traditionally worn by Georgia Tech freshmen since 1915, and a T-book, the guide to institution traditions.
