Clemson University (South Carolina) - Eclipse Over Clemson

Clemson University

  • On August 21, 2017, a total solar eclipse raced across the United States, from coast to coast. The path of totality began over the Pacific Ocean before first touching land just north of Newport, Oregon. Clemson University, which was located almost dead center within the path of totality, turned out to be one of the most popular places in the nation to view this eclipse.

  • The dedication of the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies (SONHS) Simulation Hospital took place on September 28, 2017. Conceived as a living laboratory in which students become active agents of their learning, and deploying state-of-the-art simulation technology, this five-story, 41,000-square-foot facility replicates the true flow of activities in a real-world hospital, primary care clinic and home-care setting.

Duke University (North Carolina) - A Night at the Museum: A Duke Alumni Evening at the National Museum of African American History and Culture

  • The Duke Alumni Association planned an exclusive, after-hours event of the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) in Washington, D.C., shortly after it opened. The museum, which features many Duke and Durham connections, drew nearly 1,400 alumni--producing the largest non-athletic alumni event outside of Duke's campus.

  • The point of longest duration for the total solar eclipse on August, 21, 2017—the first over the United States since 1979—was just south of Carbondale, Illinois. The path of a second eclipse in 2024 will also cross over the region, providing a unique opportunity for scientists and the public alike to experience a total eclipse twice from the same spot.

  • MacMurray College President Mark Tierno embarked on an eight-week trek around the nation in an RV to rally alumni as well as connect with current and prospective students. The tour was executed to thank longtime supporters of MacMurray College in person and to increase alumni participation.

  • When the oversight committee was created nearly two years ago, implementing significant, culminating events was a priority for celebrating the 125th Anniversary of Auburn Women. The events produced were once-in-a-lifetime commemorations that paid homage to the first three women to be admitted to Auburn University and the evolution of the Auburn woman. Every aspect of the events created an experience that engaged, recognized and welcomed women back to Auburn.

Queen's University leveraged its anniversary through a series of special events that occurred between September 2016 and July 2017.
