Gold Award

University of Georgia  - Team Stewardship

  • UGA has a decentralized and centralized development structure that includes 17 schools and colleges and various departments and units. Many of the stewardship professionals are isolated within their unit with little or no opportunity for training and development specific to our field. As a result, we developed Team Stewardship, a community for staff who perform stewardship as part of their job responsibilities. Team Stewardship meets quarterly to discuss best practices, share ideas, and learn from each other. This was the best solution to the challenges we face as a central Donor Relations office with limited staff trying to offer targeted support to our colleagues and elevate stewardship campus wide.

University of Texas System - Grow Our Own

  • With a growing demand for and shortage of frontline officers and other development professionals, the University of Texas System looked for a comprehensive strategy to augment the ongoing recruitment and retention programs of the 14 University of Texas institutions. From the student intern to the seasoned professional, the "Grow Our Own" approach offers innovative system-wide programs and services that raise awareness of career opportunities in philanthropy, and help UT development professionals succeed personally and professionally, resulting in increased philanthropic capacity for institutional priorities.

Princeton University (New Jersey) - "Operation: Why Give?"

  • "Operation Why Give" was two intensive weeks of training for 50 Princeton Development staff members, including frontline fundraisers, stewardship officers, and communicators. Our goal: to work together to identify the top talking points for why donors should give to Princeton University.
