Magazine purpose and objectives: On Wisconsin strives to increase awareness of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, engender feelings of pride, and strengthen connections with alumni and other key constituents by:

  • Reporting news about the university and key issues in higher education accurately and honestly
  • Keeping alumni informed about their alma mater and fellow alumni
  • Encouraging a free exchange of ideas and viewpoints
  • Fostering an interest in lifelong learning by sharing expertise, focusing on societal issues, and highlighting UW research that affects daily life

Audience: On Wisconsin’s audience consists of all UW-Madison alumni, donors who give more than $100, Wisconsin state legislators, and top state businesses.

Staffing: On Wisconsin is published as a partnership between the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Wisconsin Alumni Association. The magazine’s team includes co-editors, a senior editor, an associate editor, an art director, a production editor, two editorial associates, an editorial intern and six individuals who do either graphic design or production work. In addition to On Wisconsin, the team members have significant responsibilities for other communications projects.
