CASE Commissions

The three CASE commissions—Alumni Relations, Communications and Marketing, and Philanthropy—support the creation and dissemination of knowledge in the advancement disciplines.

The commissions frame and direct research to examine and evaluate professional practices and to develop and monitor programs and services in the three disciplines to ensure that they reflect current knowledge, emerging issues and trends, and the highest ethical and professional standards. They also advise CASE on programming and services for professionals within their respective areas of advancement.

They communicate regularly about their work and initiatives, first to the CASE board and then to the district boards and conference planners.

Member Responsibilities

Members are expected to:

  • Participate fully in commission activities by regularly attending meetings and conducting business by telephone, email and written communications;
  • Act in good faith and in accordance with CASE's mission with what they believe to be in the best interest of the association and its members;
  • Accept and support the commission's charge;
  • Assist in planning commission meetings and agendas, and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner;
  • Lead or actively participate in committee and task force meetings, when assigned by the commission chair;
  • Identify and communicate emerging issues and trends affecting education and advancement;
  • Provide direction to CASE staff and volunteers regarding programs, projects and services;
  • Work toward the integration of the disciplines' practices into a coherent whole in which the knowledge, skills and philosophies of each are maximized for the benefit of CASE member institutions;
  • Evaluate commission efforts and communicate accomplishments to CASE's leadership and members;
  • Represent commissions at other CASE meetings (i.e., district meetings, CASE Summit planning committee) and actively participate in these meetings; and,
  • Adhere to the highest standards of professional ethics.

Meeting Frequency

Commissions meet twice a year in the fall and spring. Meetings generally last one and a half days in length.

Financial Arrangements

CASE pays travel, hotel and on-site expenses for commission members' participation in the two regularly scheduled meetings.

Term of Service
