What is the role of campus communicators when a natural disaster strikes? Linda Kettner will share how the University of Iowa communications staff dealt with a 500-year flood that enveloped its campus in June. She will explain how communicators hosted daily news briefings, coordinated messaging among top administrators and provided a flood blog that served as the main communications medium for the campus, all while dealing with a deluge of national media.

Measuring for Success
A solid measurement program is essential for evaluating the impact of your media and public relations outreach efforts, as well as for making more informed decisions about future strategies. In addition, effective, yet practical metrics programs assume even greater importance when economic conditions limit budget and staffing resources. This session will provide guidelines on the components necessary for designing a successful measurement program, as well as feature case studies showcasing best practices that can be adopted by your institution.
