Tricia KingA message from Tricia King, conference chair

The CASE Europe Conference 2008 is already looking good. The cosmopolitan, seaside city of Brighton is our venue this year. Famed for its nightlife, its cobbled streets, its cultural and tourist attractions and its fantastic shopping, Brighton is shaping up to be our best location yet.

This year’s programme is coming together nicely. As always the conference is planned by a group of talented practitioners, and we hope it will provide you with the opportunity to reflect on best practice in your own field as well as the possibility of exploring what other, allied professional disciplines might have to offer you. Along the way, we will attempt to deal with some of the big issues in higher education as well as the smaller, day-to-day matters that preoccupy us.

A particular focus this year will be on ‘working together’.  Every college and university structures itself differently. Your work may well focus on alumni, communications, development or marketing or it might cut across any or all of these professional disciplines. Whatever your role or structure, it is important to find ways of working with your colleagues. Universities are often complex, political places and working together effectively can sometimes be challenging.  We will attempt to present some practical solutions to this issue.

See you in Brighton - you will work hard but most importantly you will have fun, meet new friends and enjoy the company of colleagues who really understand the particular challenges you face.
