Jennifer Bott

Jennifer Bott is chief executive of the University of NSW Foundation. Previously, she was the CEO of the Australia Council, the Australian Government’s arts funding and advisory body. Presiding over the organization officially charged with enriching the life of the nation by supporting and promoting the arts, Jennifer oversaw a staff of 150 and an annual budget of over $161 million.
Before joining the Australia Council in 1999, Jennifer spent seven years as general manager of Musica Viva Australia. Previous to this she was national director of AFS International Programs, an international student exchange program. She has also held senior management positions at Opera Australia and the Arts Council of Australia.
She is a member of the Committee for Economic Development for Australia (CEDA) and of Chief Executive Women; chair of Australians for the Return of the Parthenon Marbles; trustee of the Opera Benevolent Fund; and a life member of Musica Viva Australia. She was a board member of Opera Australia and the Australian Institute of Arts Management, and deputy chair of AFS International Programs (New York) and of the Sydney Leadership Programme 2002 (Benevolent Society of NSW). She was also Australia’s cultural commissioner for the 2004 Olympics.
An English and history teacher by training, Jennifer holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Sydney, a Diploma of Education from the University of New Zealand, and has trained extensively in organizational development and commercial mediation.

 Barbara J. Dick
Executive Director, Alumni Advancement & Administration
University of Toronto
In her sixteen-year career in advancement, Barbara Dick has played a pivotal leadership role in alumni relations at the University of Toronto. With almost 400,000 living alumni and a complex, decentralized structure, the University of Toronto boasts one of the most successful advancement operations in Canada.
Barbara’s experience has included providing direction and support to the University of Toronto Alumni Association as well as serving as a resource to the staff and alumni volunteers at over 30 individual faculties and colleges across the university. Her areas of expertise include the revitalization of alumni associations; strategic planning and facilitation; designing methods for measuring the impact of alumni initiatives; integration of alumni and development functions; and the design, creation, and management of senior volunteer groups.
Her career has included annual giving, alumni relations, strategic planning for advancement, and the design of performance management and assessment tools for advancement professional staff.
Barbara has a bachelor’s degree from University College, University of Toronto.

Rosalind Dubs
Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (External Relations) and Registrar
University of Technology Sydney
Rosalind Dubs is the deputy vice-chancellor and vice-president (external relations) and registrar at the University of Technology Sydney. She is responsible for driving the university’s external engagement with business, industry, the professions, government and the community; advancing the university’s relations with its alumni; implementing the enterprise development program to contribute to long term UTS sustainability; student administration and graduation; governance support, including Council and Academic Board secretariats, regulatory and legal compliance, and approvals to use the university’s name and symbols; and official university publications, corporate records, and archives.
Joining UTS in January 2007, Rosalind has wide-ranging commercial and international experience in both private and public sectors. As part of the multinational electronics company Thales SA, she was the Paris-based operations vice-president of its world-leading air traffic management business. Prior to that, she served as managing director of the navaids business line in Stuttgart, Germany. Most recently, she served as director of electronic systems with Thales joint venture company ADI Limited. Her earlier career included senior positions in CSIRO, registrar of the Australian National University, and director of operations support for Airservices Australia.

John Lippincott
President
CASE
In 2004, John Lippincott became president of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), the professional association for alumni relations, communications, fundraising, and marketing officials at colleges, universities, and independent schools around the globe.
As president, he provides strategic and operational leadership for one of the largest associations of education-related institutions in the world. During his tenure he has overseen creation of principles of practice in each of the advancement disciplines, development of ongoing operations in the Asia-Pacific region, strengthening of the organization’s financial position, and enhancement of CASE’s relationships with members, districts, and other associations.
He joined the CASE staff in 1999 as vice president for communications and marketing, with management responsibility for CURRENTS magazine, CASE Books, organizational communications, integrated marketing, government relations, and special projects.
Prior to his arrival at CASE, John served for 12 years as associate vice chancellor for advancement at the University System of Maryland. In that capacity, he provided public relations counsel to the leadership of the 13-institution system, created an award-winning public television series, played a key role in state relations, and provided communications support for two system-wide fundraising campaigns.
John has also held public relations posts at Ithaca College (New York) and at the National Endowment for the Humanities in Washington, D.C. He began his career teaching humanities courses at community colleges in Connecticut, New York, and Oregon. Both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees are from Wesleyan University in Connecticut.
He currently serves on the board of the American Council on Education, the major coordinating body for U.S. higher education. He is also a member of Independent Sector’s Ethics and Accountability Committee and the Washington Higher Education Secretariat’s Steering Committee.

Daniel McDiarmid
Managing Director
Global Philanthropic Pty Ltd
Daniel McDiarmid is the managing director and consultant of Global Philanthropic Pty Ltd. He is an experienced leader of university fundraising and alumni relations. In roles at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), RMIT University, and Central Queensland University, he personally raised major philanthropic gifts and corporate sponsorships from private donors, foundations, and corporations. He has raised funds in Australia, Singapore, the U.S., Hong Kong, and Thailand, and consults to organisations in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea.
At QUT Daniel led the successful New Century Campaign, and in August 2003, chaired the first University Advancement Conference in conjunction with CASE.
He is a Fellow of the Fundraising Institute–Australia (FFIA), a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), adjunct professor in the Centre of Philanthropy and NonProfit Studies, and has served as a member of the Commission on Philanthropy of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

Joanna Motion
Vice President International Operations
CASE
Joanna Motion was appointed the inaugural vice president of CASE international operations in 2003 after serving as executive director of CASE Europe since 2000. In her current role, she has overseen the growth of CASE’s activities outside North America, including the creation of CASE Asia-Pacific. She has played a key role in encouraging government support for educational advancement in the United Kingdom and on the continent and in securing grant support for programming in East and West Africa. She serves as liaison to the CASE Europe board and to the CASE board’s International Committee.
Prior to joining CASE, Joanna held a full range of advancement positions at four universities and served as a CASE volunteer. She was director of development and alumni relations and director of communications and development for the University of Kent at Canterbury in the U.K. and headed the alumni and development unit at the University of Melbourne in Australia.
She also worked in admissions, public relations, and communications for the University of East Anglia and the University of Hull in the UK.
Joanna is a frequent conference speaker and workshop leader around the world. She holds a degree in English language and literature from Oxford University.

Krista Slade
Executive Director, Asia-Pacific
CASE
Krista Slade was appointed to the newly created position of executive director of CASE Asia-Pacific in May 2007. In this position, Krista is responsible for professional development programs, conferences, and other services to meet the evolving needs of the growing advancement profession throughout Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
Krista has spent more than a decade working in the Asia-Pacific region as an alumni relations and fundraising professional. A Canadian citizen, she moved to Hong Kong in 1994 to establish the University of Toronto (Canada) Foundation and to serve as its executive director. In this position, she facilitated the university’s alumni, fundraising, and student recruitment activities in Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and elsewhere. In 2003, she returned to Canada to serve as the University of Toronto’s associate director of international advancement. Most recently, she served as senior strategic adviser for advancement to the vice-chancellor at the University of Melbourne.
Before joining CASE, Krista was a member of CASE and a speaker at various conferences. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Toronto and completed the international Asian studies graduate course at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
