Good Question: Gift Fees

Q: Our institution is about to begin charging gift fees. Do you have examples of how other institutions are communicating about this fee to their different audiences?

A: Institutions communicate about these fees through various outlets—newsletters, annual reports, FAQ sections on their websites and formal gift fee policies posted online. Some schools include information about gift fees in their gift agreements, so donors are aware of them up front. The CASE InfoCenter has compiled a collection of examples from institutions and organized them by communication type; you'll see that some are meant for internal audiences, such as faculty and staff, while others are geared toward donors and potential donors.
