Quick Guide to Using the CASE Benchmarking Toolkit


This abbreviated guide to using the CASE Benchmarking Toolkit is for individuals who are familiar with the tookit and need quick guidance. To access the toolkit

  1. Type http://benchmarking.case.org into your browser's URL line.
  2. Enter the e-mail address you use to login to the CASE Web site in "E-mail address".
  3. Enter your usual CASE password.

To respond to a survey

  1. Click on the text next to the red digit "2" to go to the surveys currently open.
  2. Click inside the blue box of the survey you are interested in responding to.
  3. Read what is written by your survey's creator in the "About this Survey" box.
  4. Click on section "A" to open up that section's questions.
  5. Respond to each question by typing your answer inside the box given or clicking on the drop down arrow if it is a multiple choice question.
  6. When you have responded to all questions in that section, click on the green "Save Responses" button.
  7. Repeat steps 4 through 6 with the remaining sections B, C, D, etc.
  8. When you have completed all questions in all sections, click on the green "Preview and Submit Survey" arrow.
  9. Click on the grey "Preview Data" button and eyeball your responses to see if they are OK. Click on the "x" at top right to close this sub-window.
  10. Click on the green "Submit My Data" button.

To see results

  1. After your data has been submitted, click on the "Reports" tab at the top of the screen, and then on "Raw Data Report" and "Multiple Institution Report."
  2. Select your survey from the list and click on it.
  3. Select your desired filter options in the left box, and your choices within the resulting right box, and click on the green "Save Changes" button.
  4. When you have made all your desired selections, click on the green "Get Report" button.
  5. Click on the blue diskette icon at top right to download the display into an Excel file for viewing in Excel or click on the mini-barchart icon at the end of a row to display that variable's results.

To download the results into a Word file

  1. Click on the blue diskette icon at top right of the graphic. Click on the green "Download" button and choose a file name and location, and click on "Save."
  2. Open your Word document and click on "Insert...Picture" and select the file name for the graphic.
