D.C. at Twilight: A Night Tour of Washington's Monuments and Landmarks

There is no better way to experience Washington's finest monuments. As the city calms down from the hustle and bustle of the day, the monuments shine brightly under the magical glow of the moon, creating the best photo‐ops for guests wanting to catch that perfect shot. Guests will see the city in a different light as they visit. Drive by:

  • The National Mall and Smithsonian museums
  • The Washington Monument
  • The WWII Memorial
  • The Lincoln Memorial

An Epicurean Escapade Through Old Town Alexandria

Guests will take the Water Taxi Service from the Gaylord National Harbor to Old Town Alexandria.

Old Town, Alexandria, was the district's original Southwest neighborhood and home to both George Washington and Robert E. Lee. Annexed in the mid 1800s, the city has a feel that truly brings together Virginia and Washington, D.C.

This tour explores parts of the historic and architecturally significant town that has prospered for more than 200 years. Groups will discover locally owned and operated restaurants off the beaten path, as homage is paid to the city's colonial roots, as well as its recently evolved food scene.

As the host brings guests to each restaurant, they will experience and learn about Old Town Alexandria's significance throughout the history of our country. During the tour, guests will sample specially made dishes at long standing family‐owned restaurants. The tour allows guests to truly appreciate the heritage, history and local food in Old Town Alexandria.

Guests will enjoy:

  • A six‐course progressive meal held at three critically‐acclaimed family‐run restaurants: Overwood, Columbia Firehouse and Bilbo Baggins.
  • Locally sourced ingredients used in a variety of cooking techniques and styles.

The Charms of Old Town Alexandria: A Walking Tour

History will come alive on this captivating walking tour of Old Town, Alexandria. This quaint historic town, just on the other side of the Potomac River from Washington, D.C., dates back to 1749, when Alexandria's riverfront was an important colonial port during the colonial, Revolutionary and Civil War periods. Old Town was the site of many firsts in our nation's history, including the first casualties of the Civil War.

Today, Old Town Alexandria is a revitalized waterfront town with cobblestone streets, charming colonial houses and churches, museums, shops and restaurants. Guests will walk in the footsteps of George Washington and Robert E. Lee along Old Town's brick‐lined streets and cobblestone alleyways, bordered by elegant federal homes.

Upon registering, you will receive an email confirmation. This confirmation will serve as your ticket. Please print your confirmation and bring it with you to the tour.

Tour Departures

Pickup times and meeting locations will be detailed in your tour confirmation. Please plan to arrive at your tour meeting location 15 minutes prior to your tour departure.

 

Tour Cancellation Policy

Guests must request refunds for cancellations before Friday, June 22, 2012. All cancellations must be made in writing. After Friday, June 22, 2012, there will be no refunds for guest cancellations.

 

There are no refunds for guest cancellations for the Epicurean Escapade through Old Town Alexandria.

 

Each tour must have a minimum number of participants to operate. DISTRICT EXPERIENCE, LLC reserves the right to cancel any tour that does not meet minimum registration requirements by Friday, June 22, 2012. Should a tour be cancelled for this reason, a full refund for the cancelled tour will be given.
