Use of smart phones, tablets and other mobile devices is growing rapidly with mobile traffic set to surpass PC traffic by 2015. As this growth continues, educational institutions will need to make mobile adoption a high priority, says a communications expert speaking during a session at the recent CASE Social Media Conference in Chicago.
Giving to higher education increased while the number of donors decreased in fiscal year 2011, according to a survey of more than 100 public and private institutions in the United States.
Faculty at the recent CASE Asia-Pacific Schools Conference in Hong Kong say interest in advancement among Asian institutions is growing exponentially—but add that professionals at many schools are struggling to start advancement programs from scratch.

The CASE Board of Trustees recently approved the slate of candidates to fill open trustee positions.
The CASE commissions on alumni relations, communications and marketing, and philanthropy, during their April meeting in San Francisco, discussed trends in dues and funding of alumni associations, measuring the return on the investment in communications and marketing, a survey project on the culture of philanthropy and other topics.
Advancement professionals planning to attend the upcoming CASE Europe Annual Conference should act now to take advantage of early-bird prices, which end 8 June.
CASE today announced the recipients of its Distinguished Service Awards, an annual program honoring individuals and organizations for extraordinary service to education and advancement.
At its March meeting in Boston, the CASE Board of Trustees appointed 13 new members to serve on CASE's three professional commissions.
CASE continues to add new resources and content to keep its online presence fresh and relevant to members.
More than 450 college students and advancement professionals will gather Aug. 9-11 at the CASE ASAP Network Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., to learn strategies to further their student advancement programs, network with peers and interact with top leaders in the student advancement field.
Professionals new to the advancement field are encouraged to apply for a Virginia Carter Smith Scholarship.

U.S. Federal Relations News
The U.S. House Ways and Means Oversight Subcommittee will hold a hearing at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 16, to examine the operations and oversight of tax-exempt organizations. The hearing will focus on a number of issues, including the current Internal Revenue Service College and University Compliance Project.

District III launched its new website, held a meeting on its 2013 conference and is now accepting nominations for its Chief Executive Leadership Award.
The District III Board of Directors and 2013 conference team met this past weekend to strategize ways to better serve its membership, including planning the 2013 "Inspire" conference.
