House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) has introduced and the committee has approved legislation (H.R. 6049) that will extend tax provisions that expired Dec. 31, 2007, including a one-year extension of the IRA charitable rollover.
CASE District NewsDistrict II member institutions and professionals may apply for Venture Capital Fund grants anytime on the district Web site. The next round of applications will be reviewed in mid-August.
And mark your calendars for the next District II conference, to be held March 21-24, 2009, in Baltimore, Md. The conference date is a bit later than usual, providing a chance to enjoy Baltimore's balmy early-spring temperatures.
District V's one-day workshops continue with "Marketing Your Institution in a 'Service Economy,'" Thursday, June 5, at the University of Michigan. Registration is only $100.
District VI-Have you ever found yourself in the middle of a conference session, convinced you have a brilliant idea for next year's event? Is your school doing something innovative that you want to share with the world? Are you looking for a chance to polish your presentation skills while inspiring your peers?
If so, we would love to hear from you. District VI invites colleagues within and outside the district to submit a proposal for the 2009 district conference, Jan. 25-27, 2009, at the Westin Crown Center in Kansas City. Travel expenses for speakers from outside the district may be covered if your proposal is accepted.
The conference's three primary tracks are alumni relations, philanthropy, and communications and marketing; areas of special emphasis include diversity and senior advancement professionals. This year's theme, EXHILARATE, embodies our desire to help conference participants recharge and tap into new sources of creativity-personally and professionally.
Proposals can be submitted online.
