Description

Since we first began talking to each other, telling stories has been an effective way to capture attention, engage an audience and convince them to act. When we have to communicate about complex issues and abstract ideas, however, finding the right story (or any story, for that matter) can be difficult. At the same time, advances in technology keep giving us shiny new tools to communicate with e.g. Facebook and Twitter, and in our fervor to stay on the cutting edge, we often ignore our natural inclination to tell a good story.

Whether you're an annual giving officer, magazine editor or alumni director, this highly applicable session, open to all advancement professionals who spend hours advocating, explaining, proposing, presenting and writing, will offer you numerous and long-lasting takeaways.

Led by Alison Coles, director of development and alumni relations, University of Kent, and Betheny Reid, president, Dallas County Community College District Foundation.
