Description

The Mayo Clinic’s patient-centered practice encourages physician interaction and collaboration. One outcome has been a physician engagement program that creates opportunities for physicians to interact with benefactors and prospective donors.

During this seminar participants will:

  • Come to understand the roles physicians can play in fundraising success,
  • Learn a step-by-step process to build a physician engagement program,
  • Gain awareness of HIPPA implications on physician involvement with philanthropy and
  • Gain ideas to start or build on an existing physician engagement program.

Dr. Scott Swanson, assistant professor of urology and medical director for development at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, and Susan C. Dolbert, chair, Mayo Clinic in Arizona Department of Development, offer insights into the Mayo Clinic’s physician engagement programs, including the reasons behind its development, the program’s components, lessons learned during the program’s construction and plans for the program’s future.
