Register for Community College Advancement Conference

Registration is now open for the inaugural Conference for Community College Advancement, which will take place Oct. 3-5, 2012, in San Diego, Calif. The conference will bring together professionals from all areas of advancement at community colleges, including fundraising, alumni relations, marketing and communications, and government relations.

The conference's planning committee recently met and reviewed proposals for presentations. Paul Heaton, director of CASE's Center for Community College Advancement, says the committee was pleased with the response to its call for submissions and is planning a full program of activities for attendees.

"The planning committee was especially pleased with the breadth and depth of the proposals," Heaton says. "Our challenge is selecting the best of the best."

Last Chance to Nominate a Professor of the Year

The deadline for nominations for the 2012 U.S. Professors of the Year Awards Program—which includes an award for outstanding community college professor—is April 16, 2012.

Sponsored by CASE and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, the U.S. Professors of the Year awards recognize professors for their influence on teaching and commitment to undergraduate students.

The 2011 Maryland Professor of the Year, Dawn Avery, is professor of music at Montgomery College, a two-year institution. Learn more about what made her stand out among last year's nominees.
