People & Communities

Hello, District 6!

I can't begin to tell you how much I have loved being the District 6 Representative this past year. We have two outstanding district conferences, several award winning programs, and made more incredible memories than I can count. The students, advisers and schools in D6 are spirited and enthusiastic. It has been a pleasure to get to know many of you.

This spring, D6 had the opportunity to collaborate with our friends at Oklahoma State University and attend the District 4 Conference in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Several D6 schools presented at the conference, and it was a fantastic opportunity to branch out, explore a neighborhood district, build friendships, and share even more best practices. Thirteen D6 schools also travelled to Atlanta, Georgia to attend the annual CASE Conference for Student Advancement. Held each August, highlights this year included the Student Admissions Ambassadors Symposium, chaired by Paul Sapp from the University of Northern Iowa; the release of Lasting Impressions, CASE's new student advancement book with a chapter authored by Connie Hansen, also from the University of Northern Iowa; and five CASE VI scholarships awarded by the CASE VI Board for students from around the region to attend the conference.

Several exciting developments were announced including the rollout of a new CASE ASAP membership, an updated Student Engagement & Philanthropy Month, and a new student leadership opportunity for students passionate about student advancement. Beginning this fall, students will have the opportunity to apply to sit on a District Cabinet as a liaison for their states communicating important CASE ASAP information. The program will begin November 1, and you'll find an application below that is due by October 10. The program offers outstanding leadership opportunities and is an excellent way for students to be more involved with CASE ASAP.

Finally, this spring I will pass the torch to a new District 6 Representative. This has been an incredibly rewarding experience that offers leadership and networking opportunities, professional development and lasting friendships. If you are interested in more information regarding the District 6 Representative position, please contact me. I am so proud of our district, and I look forward to seeing what this year holds for D6!
