Tips for Searching the Education Association Directory

Search the Education Association Directory to find an education association or other associations that cover topics that interest you.

First, a few basic tips:

• The search engine is not case sensitive. If you type in "american council," in the "Association name" box, it will pull up the entry for "American Council on Education."
• The search engine will look for words exactly as you have written them. So, don’t use commas to separate words or quotation marks to group words. Also, don’t use the words "AND" or "OR" unless you wish to find those actual words.

Start your search by filling in one or more box on the Search screen:

1. Association name: Fill in the full or partial name of an association you are looking for. The search engine will look for the words exactly as you have written them and in the order in which you have written them. For example, if you type "advancement council," the search engine will not pull up "Council for Advancement and Support of Education."
2. Acronym: Fill in the full or partial acronym of an association you are looking for.
3. Category: Choose from a pull-down list of categories of education associations.
4. Keyword: Fill in one keyword or an exact phrase. The search engine will pull up all associations that have that word or exact phrase in their descriptions.

If you fill in more than one box, your search will be narrowed. For example, if you fill in "education" in the "Association name" box AND you fill in "elementary" in the "Keyword" box, the search engine will look for associations that have the word "education" in their names AND ALSO have the word "elementary" in the description.

Once you have filled in your search criteria, press the "Search" button. Your search will result in one or more entries that match your search criteria. Each entry includes the association’s name, acronym, address, phone number, E-mail address, and link to the association’s Web site.
