The New Organizational Excellence: VIsioning, Change Management, Right-Sizing and Growth
Massive change is on the horizon for higher education. Cornell University has recently completed a planning process to downsize and restructure the university and envision its future that is unprecedented. With the help of global consulting firm Bain & Company, Cornell undertook a comprehensive project to streamline support operations, procurement, information technology, finance, human resources, the administration, communications and facilities. Task forces for each college, Cornell Library, the Graduate School, student enrollment, student and academic services, and several across-discipline areas are exploring reorganization strategies.

This session is the follow-up to Sunday afternoon's key session on the unprecedented change that Cornell University has recently instituted campus wide. With the help of consultants, university staff embarked on a comprehensive organizational structure change that culminated in the elimination of 82 positions in the development and alumni relations office. The process also involved decisions to restructure and revisit all aspects of alumni affairs, development, donor relations, and other advancement operations. Review this extraordinary realignment and learn what it has meant so far for Cornell's advancement team.
