Peter Slee

Peter Slee, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Huddersfield and Conference Chair 2011

Professor Peter Slee is Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Huddersfield and Institute Chair. Peter is responsible for strategic planning and resources at Huddersfield, and has held previous posts at Northumbria, Durham, Aston and Manchester universities, and at the Confederation of British Industries.


 

Christine Humfrey

 

Christine Humfrey, Special Professor and Management Consultant in International Higher Education

Christine has spent her career in the university sector and was the founding Director of the International Office at the University of Nottingham. She has researched, published, taught and advised on internationalisation, international marketing and the development of the university sector in the UK. Since retirement she has undertaken consultancies for Universities UK, the British Council, UKCISA, the Danish Government, and a number of institutions in the higher and further education sector. Christine is a Commonwealth Scholarship Commissioner and is advising on several International Masters programmes.


 

Tricia King

 

Tricia King, Pro-Vice-Master for Student Experience and Director of External Relations, Birkbeck

Tricia has worked in marketing for nearly two decades, progressing from arts
marketing (working with actors) through legal marketing (working with lawyers) to higher education marketing (working with academics). Tricia's current role encompasses the strategic review of the student experience at Birkbeck and leading the External Relations team. Birkbeck won the Outstanding Communications/Marketing Team at the 2009 THE Leadership and Management Awards 2009.


 

Tracey Lancaster

 

Tracey Lancaster, Director of Corporate Relations, University of Birmingham

Tracey heads up the External Relations team at the University of Birmingham. Her office's responsibilities include building international relationships, corporate events and marketing, public affairs, media relations as well as student recruitment at all levels around the globe, admissions and a creative media team. In 2005 the University undertook a major re-branding exercise which changed the way in which it presents itself to the outside world, as well as influencing the pedagogy and other major functions of the institution. Since the branding, stakeholder perceptions of Birmingham and the quality of the student intake has improved. The institution continues to raise its national and international profile.


 

Tim Longden

 

Tim Longden, Director of Marketing and Communications, University of Hertfordshire

Tim is Director of Marketing and Communications at the University of Hertfordshire and a member of the University’s Management Board. Tim joined Hertfordshire on 1 May 2007 from the University of Nottingham, where he held the position of Director of Marketing Communications between 2000 and 2007. Prior to his HE experience, Tim had extensive marketing and brand development experience gained within the leisure retail industry. Tim is a graduate of the University of Sheffield where he gained a first class honours degree in Economics and Town Planning.


 

Richard Taylor

 

Richard Taylor, Director, Division of Corporate Affairs and Planning, University of Leicester

Richard is Director, Division of Corporate Affairs and Planning at the University of Leicester and a member of the university's senior management team. He leads an
integrated team covering press and PR, student recruitment, widening participation,admissions, international operations, market research, development & alumni relations and corporate communications. Prior to arriving at Leicester in 2003 Richard was Head of Marketing at the University of Durham where he was lead contact on the successful marketing benchmarking and evaluation project, Maximize, which was funded by HEFCE. He also led the HELIX project for HEFCE, developing an evaluation and benchmarking system for internal communications in HE.


 

 

Chris Watts, Director of Student Services, Northumbria University

Chris is Director of Student Services at Northumbria University where he has worked for nine years and is responsible for overseeing the student experience from initial enquiry to graduation. His key responsibilities include: marketing intelligence and insight; UK and international marketing, student recruitment and admissions; and student support, welfare and wellbeing. Chris is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Institute of Direct Marketing (IDM) and the Universities Marketing Forum (UMF).
