Regional Strategies for the 21st Century
You can no longer get away with the beer-and-pretzel happy hours or meeting with the basketball coach twice a year to constitute a year's worth of programming. Not only does that -not meet our mission-driven strategic plans, but it is lower on the priority list for this what's-in-it-for-me generation of alumni. Attend this session to hear our thoughts on the nuts and bolts of a 21st century regional program strategy.

The Advancement Partnership Model
You can't have one without the other! Without friends, how can you raise funds? And without funds, how can you have friends and fun? Learn how your peers work to synchronize fun, friend and fundraising to maximize achievement.

  • Regional Program Volunteers (repeated at 11:30 AM on Wednesday)
    Volunteers are the driving force behind club and chapter activities. But working with volunteers brings many challenges: how to continually recruit energetic volunteers, provide them with the resources to be effective, keep them engaged and interested, and most importantly, recognize them for a job well done. Learn different techniques for working with all kinds of volunteers.
  • Special Interest and Affinity Based Regional Groups (repeated at 11:30 AM on Wednesday)
    Chapters and clubs are often the "regular" way to reach our alumni but did you know like interests can be as effective? Discover how affinity and special interest-based groups can help you with regional strategies to engage alumni.

High-Touch vs. High-Tech: Social Media and Regional Engagement
Hosting an event is not the only way to create regional engagement. The use of social media is paramount to the success of regional-based constituencies. Learn the necessity of social media in order to connect, engage and communicate with alumni.

  • Development Volunteers (repeated at 8:30 AM on Thursday)
    Campaign success is critical and competition for philanthropic support is at an all-time high. Learn how to recruit volunteers to achieve campaign success while finding additional meaningful ways to engage alumni and increase collaboration between the alumni association and development.
  • Student/Young Alumni Volunteers (repeated at 8:30 AM on Thursday)
    They're young, energetic, excited and full of new ideas. They don't stay in one place and are busy building their lives. Do they have time for their alma mater? Join us as we study this generation in depth. Discover the truth regarding the availability and interest of young alumni and learn proven methods to capitalize on this invaluable constituency-the future of your alumni program.

What Do Alumni Really Think?
To know what we should do for our alumni regionally we must first understand them. What do they want from us and what motivates them? Exercise your thinking about alumni in this session as we review results from the Alumni Attitude Study© spanning nine years of alumni attitude research from over 120 universities and colleges. We will look in detail at what motivates alumni, how it changes for different types of institutions and how it differs between different regions of the country.
