Carlos Barroso

Carlos Barroso is the director of marketing and communications and serves on the leadership team at Saint Andrew's School in Boca Raton, Fla.

Throughout his 11 years at Saint Andrew's, Barroso has been responsible for overseeing all marketing and communications efforts and activities for the school including public relations, website management, social media, multimedia, advertising, community and media relations, parent relations, communication standards and crisis communications. Furthermore, he has served as an Upper School student adviser and previously taught as an adjunct faculty member.

Over the course of his career in education, Barroso has presented as a faculty member at several Summer Institutes, workshops and conferences for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). He has received numerous Stellar Speaker awards for his efforts. Barroso is also proud to serve as a member of the National CASE Commission on Communications and Marketing.

Previous to Saint Andrew's School, he worked in international admissions and traveled to more than 45 countries for Sacred Heart University and Lynn University. He also worked for Siemens AG in marketing operations and was recognized as "Rookie of the Year" for Siemens ICN Division in 2000-2001.

Barroso graduated from SUNY Maritime College with a degree in marine transportation and as a Third Officer in the United States Merchant Marine. He received an international MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, and earned a doctorate in education with a specialty in organizational leadership from the Fischler School of Education and Human Services at Nova Southeastern University. His doctoral dissertation covers the subject area of improving school funding via online philanthropy.

Megan Donald

Megan Donald is a multimedia web producer responsible for coordinating, producing and posting multimedia content that supports and advances the mission of University Relations at Virginia Tech. In her role, Donald explores the best options for showcasing the university's multimedia content while also working with the university's communicators to help them integrate multimedia into their communication plans. Donald is also part of a two-person team that oversees the university's social media properties.


Mitchell Powers

Mitchell Powers is a media producer specializing in institutional and corporate communications. He is an employee of Virginia Tech and a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design. He was an innovator in the use of DSLR cameras for video and continues to explore new frontiers in an effort to help clients reach their audiences.

Tom Salyer Photography

Tom Salyer is a Miami, Florida, commercial photographer and photojournalist who tells dramatic multimedia stories by combining still photographs with audio interviews and field-recorded natural sound. He has produced audio slide shows for nonprofits, educational and medical institutions.

After working for a world's fair and small daily newspaper in the Pacific Northwest, he moved to Miami in 1980 as a staff photographer for United Press International. For ten years he covered news events as varied the Space Shuttle, political conventions, sporting events, the invasion of Grenada and life inside Cuba.

For the past twenty years he has photographed for consumer magazines, trade journals, corporations and universities, specializing in environmental portraits of real people on location and capturing events as they unfold through traditional photojournalism.

He has traveled extensively in China documenting the country's people with photography and audio recordings, and has been invited to exhibit photographs, judge a photography festival and lecture at a trade school.
