Tristan Davies

Tristan Davies
Director of Communications
Commonwealth School

Tristan Davies has been the director of communications at Commonwealth School in Boston since 2008. It was a return to familiar ground; he graduated from the school in 1983.

Davies spent his young adulthood as a scientist, earning a biochemistry degree from Columbia and a master's degree in neurobiology from Duke University. By then, however, his interests had shifted from researching the world to simply trying to explain it. He joined WTVD in Raleigh-Durham, N.C., as an intern and eventually became a newscast producer; he then moved to KYTV in Springfield, Mo., as a producer and reporter.

Tired of the stress of daily deadlines and live shots in the snow, he joined the communications staff at Drury University in 2000. A year later he was named the director of university communications. Over the next six years the university expanded its marketing operation and completely rebranded its athletics and academics. Returning to science, Davies spent some time as the associate director of communications for science in the central development office at Harvard before accepting the job at Commonwealth, where he is the marketing and communications staff.
