Leading change in Fundraising and Development: The Role of the Governor

Nov. 19, 2010
De Vere West One, Oxford Circus
London, United Kingdom

Higher Education institutions across the UK face challenges on many levels: how to generate more independent income; how to balance excellence with access; how to remain competitive internationally – in both research and teaching. These financially demanding times ask much of our universities and their leaders.

Raising philanthropic income has the potential to assist you and your university in fulfilling its mission. Finding new sources of income to support important research; creating professorial chairs; and supporting teaching projects for students are some of the ways in which fundraising can contribute to the achievement of an institution.

The support of a university's council is vital to an institution's development and fundraising effort. Through understanding the fundraising process, Governors, Trustees and Council Members can learn how they can support it.

This seminar will cover factors such as the initial start-up costs, timeframe and return on investment. The day is interactive with group breakout sessions to discuss various topics and report findings back to the group.
