Marc Weinstein

Marc Weinstein

McGill University

Marc Weinstein is Vice-Principal, Development and Alumni Relations at McGill University, where he is spearheading the University's landmark History in the Making Campaign: the most ambitious comprehensive fundraising effort in McGill's history.

His previous positions include Vice-President and General Counsel of the McGill University Health Centre Foundation; Executive Director of the Jewish General Hospital Foundation; and attorney at Borden Ladner Gervais, where he practiced in the areas of estate planning, trusts, commercial and tax law.

Weinstein has a Bachelor of Arts degree from McGill (1985), a Master of Arts degree from York University (1987) and both Civil Law (BCL) and Common Law (LLB) degrees from McGill (1991).


Stephen O'Connor

Stephen O'Connor
Director of Development
University of Leicester

Stephen O'Connor has enjoyed leading successful fundraising teams for the past 17 years: in the charity sector as Head of Fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support and as UK Director of Fundraising for children's charity Barnardo's. In 2008 he was appointed as the first Director of Development at his alma mater the University of Leicester, achieving a step change in alumni engagement and fundraising and doubling philanthropic income year on year whilst winning the University's biggest ever gift of £7m. He has particular professional interests in community engagement, widening participation in education and fundraising for Health and children and young people.

O'Connor is also a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a Member of the Institute of Fundraising.


Liz Bowie

University of Aberdeen Development Trust

Liz Bowie heads a team of fundraising professionals at the University of Aberdeen Development Trust, responsible for direct fundraising, donor care, marketing and operational support. Bowie joined the University in 1999, having previously worked for Scottish and Southern Energy. She worked initially as Consultancy Manager in the Research and Innovation team, engaging academics in short term projects with industry. In 2004 she joined the Development Trust working in the area of corporate fundraising. She then held the position of Associate Director of Operations before moving to Director of Development.

The University of Aberdeen's Sixth Century Campaign successfully achieved its target of £150million, which included a flagship Sir Duncan Rice Library. The Development Trust is now focusing its fundraising around three priority areas: Our Students, Our Expertise, and Our Heritage. There are a number of fundraising projects within each area, and a variety of ways to provide support.


Sarah Caddick

Gatsby Charitable Foundation

Sarah J Caddick PhD, is Neuroscience Advisor to Lord Sainsbury of Turville and his charitable organisation, the Gatsby Charitable Foundation. She is a neuroscientist who has held leadership roles in academia and private/public grant-making organisations where she has been responsible for the development, oversight and restructuring of strategic, programmatic, operational and grant-making activities. She currently serves on the scientific boards of the Science Museum (London), the Aston Center for Brain Science, Wired Differently and the Centre for Biological Sciences, University of Southampton. She is a governor/trustee of the New York Academy of Sciences UK Charitable Foundation, MQ: Transforming Mental Health and the Governing Council of the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre. She is also a member of the Brain Trust group and a former guest curator for TED Global.

 


Uta Hope

Combat Stress

Uta Hope joined Combat Stress in June 2012 as director of fundraising and communications with 15 years of fundraising experience in Europe and North America and a track record of exceeding targets and successfully managing large teams. Hope gained experience in third-sector fundraising through roles at the Royal British Legion and British Red Cross before going on to become director of development and director of special events at Canadian-based charity, Foundation for Research into Children's Diseases.

In 2002, Hope became director of development and communications at Elizabeth Finn Care. Here, she oversaw the rebranding of the charity, which helped position it as a major player in the anti-poverty lobby while increasing voluntary income. From this role, she moved on to become director of development at World Monuments Fund in Britain. In 2007, she secured the position of director of fundraising at Royal Hospital for neuro-disability, running a broad portfolio of fundraising activities with a very successful events programme. Prior to joining Combat Stress Hope, she was chief of staff development at The Defence and National Rehabiliation Centre Capital Appeal where she worked with the Duke of Westminster. In this role, she was responsible for a major capital appeal to fund the building of a new centre for the clinical rehabilitation of injured service men and women.


Erin Segilia Chase

Erin Segilia Chase

King’s Health Partners

Erin Segilia Chase has served as a fundraising director for over 19 years within the higher education and charitable sectors in both the United States and the United Kingdom. She began her career in 1993 as director of development for Hispanos en Minnesota. In 1996 she joined New York University where she served as director of development for the Gallatin School of Individualized Study, the Brennan Centre at NYU School of Law, and senior director of development at NYU Medical Centre, leading several major campaigns during her tenure. In 2005 she joined the American Cancer Society as senior director and implemented their international outreach programme piloted in London, and launched the organization's largest capital appeal for $50m. In 2007 she joined the Legal Aid Society in New York City as director of development where she overhauled the fundraising department and stabilized the organization's $165m annual budget. She went on to join the British Heart Foundation as programme director where she launched their first major appeal to raise £50m for research based on cardiac regenerative therapies.

In 2011 Segilia Chase assumed the role deputy director of fundraising for King's Health Partners - one of five UK Academic Health Sciences Centres comprised of King's College London, Guy's and St. Thomas's Hospital, King's College Hospital, and the Maudsley Hospital. At KHP she leads the team of major gifts fundraisers and focuses her time on the Partnership's three priority areas - Neuroscience and Mental Health, Cancer, and Paediatrics. She is a member of the Development Committee of the Board of Directors for the DEMOS Centre for London. She holds a Bachelors of Arts in Anthropology and a Masters of Public Administration from New York University.
