14:00 Panel Discussion - ‘The Grateful Patient Experience' and ‘Donor Engagement in the Healthcare Sector'
Erin Segilia Chase and Uta Hope will deliver brief presentations concerning the different aspects of engaging patient donors. This will be followed by a dialogue and Q&A moderated by Marc Weinstein.

Hope will talk about the challenges of raising funds from the general public in a sector which is partly or mainly funded by taxpayers' money. Her presentation will focus on the need for a broad programme of activities to ensure sustainable long-term funding. While Hope currently works in the mental health sector, she has insight into hospital and research fundraising both in the UK and Canada.

15:00 Research-related Fundraising in the Healthcare Sector

This session will give an overview of the varied approaches and expectations of foundations in the research arena of healthcare. This is a changing model, and philanthropy is much less passive, requiring more partnership, leverage, ability to steer direction and accountability. Unified approaches are key now and more likely to look at consortium or collaborative approaches across institutions.
