Expert Forum: Legacies

Oct. 8, 2010
De Vere Venues Holborn Bars
London, United Kingdom

This day is one of a series of Experts' Forums aimed at experienced practitioners with responsibilities of managing and developing legacy programmes.

Led by Heather Gelles Ebner, Director of Development, Green Templeton College, Oxford, these sessions have been designed to allow participants to discuss with panellists and each other the complex issues surrounding and how to look at managing legacy programmes differently.

Delegates will:

  • Develop and hone solicitation skills, learn how to speak confidently but sensitively with donors about legacy/estate gifts;
  • Discover charitable estate planning techniques available to wealthy individuals in the UK;
  • Learn how to evaluate success appropriately and how to encourage others within an organization, gift officers, volunteers, trustees, etc. to support/invest in your legacy programme;
  • Work through case studies and practice skills in smaller break-out groups;
  • Consider fresh marketing ideas and design more effective legacy communications materials;
  • Engage with senior level colleagues and share best practice.

This is part of CASE Europe's Training and Support Programme for the Matched Funding Scheme for Voluntary Giving 2008-2011 in England and Wales; scholarships are available to participating tier 1 and 2  English and Welsh institutions.
