Development for Deans Postconference Workshop: The Language of Leadership

This fast-paced workshop is designed to help deans become compelling communicators with donors and other target audiences. Susan Peterson, president of The Communication Center®, will offer practical tips and techniques for effectively strengthening leadership and communication skills. She will review key strategies for purposefully placing stories into fundraising presentations and guide participants on how best to employ the language of leadership to convey authority and credibility.

 

Through highly interactive discussions and engaging group activities, the workshop will cover how to:

  • Generate buy-in by connecting to the interests of target donor audiences;
  • Communicate in ways that reflect personal voices and leadership styles;
  • Use fact, emotion and stories to deliver compelling and succinct stories;
  • Develop fundraising stories to inspire, address change, motivate and teach; and
  • Employ body language, pacing and eye contact to maximize credibility.
