8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Pacific

Advancement leaders are often unprepared to effectively convey their message in a clear and engaging fashion when called upon by various media outlets and formats. Whether launching a new program, announcing a significant donation, negotiating a crisis, answering questions about your institution or delivering a speech before a live audience, successful communicators understand how to adjust messages to their target audiences.

This media training workshop will help advancement leaders hone their communication delivery skills, skills that are essential to build in the current educational and political environment. Teresa Valerio Parrot, a recognized expert in higher education administration, media/public relations, and marketing and branding, will provide training in how best to prepare for and participate in media interviews. She will share the tips and techniques necessary to help ensure media interactions will benefit your institution's short- and long‐term goals, and enhance your institution's image and reputation.

Workshop benefits of attending:
  • Learn how to identify and project key messages with clarity, confidence and enthusiasm.
  • Gain skills designed to help increase your comfort levels when talking with the media.
  • Hear best practices of media do's and don'ts.
  • Discover how to avoid traps and how to best handle the unexpected and challenging questions.
