Campaigns can provide extraordinary opportunities to organisations. Raising transformational gifts, lifting institutional profile and building capacity for the future are key outcomes.

We will cover the key issues based on the different types of successful campaign fundraisers:

  • The Strategist: Martin Kaufman, Head of Development at the Museum of London, will share his thinking on campaign timing in a difficult climate. Hear his views on the most effective strategies for planning and launching a campaign.
  • The Facilitator: Barbara Macpherson is a major gifts fundraiser at the University of Hertfordshire. She will share her advice on the best strategies for new universities struggling to get the right mix of campaign priorities taking into account smaller pools of prospects and limited resources.
  • The Communicator: Pim Baxter, Deputy Director of the National Portrait Gallery, will present a case study on the successful acquisition campaign for the portrait of poet John Donne. This campaign included online giving and face-to-face fundraising as well as leveraging press for a successful public appeal.
  • The Volunteer: Hear first-hand about the role of volunteers in campaign planning and fundraising. Wadham College alumnus John Hewitt regales us with his experiences as a volunteer, donor and member of the ‘home team' at Wadham.
