    Creating a Culture of Philanthropy: UCR Dance Marathon
    Last spring, a new tradition was born at the University of California, Riverside: UCR Dance Marathon. Learn how we raised $15,000 for the Guardian Scholars Program, gave back to our campus and created a new signature event-all with no initial funding. Organizations interested in starting a culture of philanthropy on campus should attend this session, as well as any organizations that already host a dance marathon but are looking to cut overhead costs.

    What is STAT?
    When you utter the words "Alumni Association" to college students, most of them won't give it much thought until long after they've walked across the stage at commencement. At the University of Northern Iowa, however, more and more students are realizing that you don't have to wait until you graduate to be a part of the Alumni Association. What is STAT? Ten years ago, not one student was asking that question. Now, almost every freshman is eager to find out the answer. At this session, you can, too!

Each year, students are eligible to run to be the next Big Dog on Campus and are able to showcase their Husky Pride throughout Homecoming week and the annual Mayoral Debate that brings out hundreds of students and alumni. This year, we had 900 matches, connecting over 1,800 students for valuable mentor/mentee relationships. We'll share with you tips for starting a mentor program, its benefits and potential for growth. You'll be equipped to return to campus and start a mentor program for your student advancement group.

Our organization enthusiastically accepted the challenge and by the end of August 2011 we had implemented two programs geared toward increasing student spirit: the Herd Club and Yell Leaders.
