School Supplies Drive to Benefit Schools on Wheels, Inc.
School on Wheels, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that helps homeless children to receive the highest level of education possible. They provide free academic tutoring for homeless students from kindergarten through the 12th grade. The program consists of professionals who come from various backgrounds with the collective passion to teach and assist the educational lives of young people. School on Wheels volunteers work tirelessly to give academic stability to homeless students.
What You Can Do
Donations are welcome in the form of basic school supplies that make a huge difference to the children receiving them. Every child that School on Wheels meets receives a backpack filled with essential school supplies. Below is a list of the supplies the children are in need of to succeed in school (please note that only new backpacks and supplies are accepted):
- Backpacks
- Spiral-ring notebooks
- Crayons and markers
- Colored pencils; pens
- Pencil sharpeners
- School binders (2" or smaller)
- Erasers (assorted colors, shapes and sizes)
- Homework folders
- Flash Cards (Mmultiplication and division)
- USB flash drives
- Computers and/or computer conitors
- Laptops (2005 and newer)
- Mini staplers and staples
- Mechanical pencils
- Pencil boxes or pouches
- School and scientific calculators (preferably solar)
- Graphing calculators (new or used)
- Three-ring paper (college and wide-ruled)
- Book covers
- Subject dividers
- Arts and crafts materials
- Atlases
- Cash donations, gift certificates and vouchers for backpacks, books and supplies
It's easy to make a donation! Bring your donation in your suitcase or have your adviser ship a group donation in advance to Butler University.
