Just Beat It
Beat T-shirts are a great way to promote school spirit and connect with students on campus. The shirts were an idea we picked up from the University of Florida at a previous CASE ASAP conference and brought to our school. Learn how we made the program work for us and get tips on starting one at your school. We will review the steps it took to get the project off the ground-from convincing association leadership to soliciting sponsors-and discuss how the program's success has helped our organization.

Tour Training: Poly Reps Style!
While all tours cover the university essentials, Poly Reps conduct tours in our own unique way. As an organization, we believe our successful style is the result of interactive tour training. Through detailed discussion about what makes or breaks a campus tour and activities that test the knowledge of Poly Reps, the Tour Committee hosts a day-long training for new members to learn how to conduct effective tours and for current members to discover ways for fine-tuning their tours. During this session we will identify innovative ways the K-State Student Foundation has tapped into the unique resources on our campus to promote the nationally recognized K-State PROUD Student Campaign.

The EMAW Plan: Recruitment, Selection and Training
Learn about the K-State Student Alumni Board's EMAW (Every Man a Wildcat) plan to recruit prospective students to the university, select the best-of-the-best for the Student Alumni Board and train new members through an extensive training program. We'll highlight our unique events including football skybox hosting, alumni reunions and Jr. Wildcat events. These programs have helped SAB continue to be one of the premier organizations on the K-State campus.

Hawk Mud Fest - An Innovative Approach to Student Philanthropic Giving
Hawk Mud Fest is an annual mud volleyball tournament hosted by Students for KU-KU Endowment's official student foundation. This event serves as innovative approach to student philanthropy and educates current students about private donor support and raises funds for the Students for KU Student Leadership Award. This award recognizes student leaders who have made, or are making, significant contributions to the enrichment and future success of the University of Kansas. This session is great for those interested in deepening your campus's culture of student philanthropy.

A Pre-Alumni Program: Connecting Students to the Alumni Association
WASA Study Breaks are one way we have found to interact with underclassman to educate them about their alumni association and to build class affinity. We have used these breaks as a way to introduce ourselves as well as to educate current students on the benefits and resources of being alumni as well as the value of their degree once they graduate. Discuss different ways we create opportunities for students to attend alumni-sponsored events and share how we partner with the Senior Class Council for the Senior Study Break - Salute to Graduates.

Reel 'Em In: How to Have a Successful Recruitment Process
The Butler University Student Foundation (BUSF) will discuss ways to execute a successful closed membership process for your organization. The session will include information on promoting your organization to campus, attracting and selecting qualified applicants and keeping new members involved. BUSF operates as a student alumni association with a closed membership of 80 members. You will learn how BUSF attracts and maintains an average of 25 new members each year.

You Got Served-Ambassador Style!
What if your organization invited all students to get involved in an effort to impact your community? Appalachian State Ambassador's annual canned food drive is the largest of its kind, collecting over 10,000 cans per year for the Watauga Hunger Coalition. This session will focus on the logistics of planning community service events, publicity tactics, and outreach to students and local community members. Bringing Back a Tradition - Pulling Off Multiple Successful Large Fundraisers
Bear Downs was a bicycle race that served as Baylor's Student Foundation's main fundraiser for many years. In 2002, it was replaced by the Bearathon, a half marathon that drew more interest and raised more money. This past year, our student foundation decided to bring Bear Downs back, holding two large fundraisers raising more for student scholarships. During this session, we will discuss both the struggles and successes we experienced with getting an event of this nature started (again) and what we have learned so we can keep improving Bear Downs.

The University of Cincinnati's Student Alumni Council has led the school's homecoming celebration for the past three years. 40 Years for Dinners for 12 Strangers: Tips for Starting, Expanding or Enhancing a Dinners Program-from the Ones Who Started It All
Small dinner parties hosted by alumni have become a popular way for universities to bridge the gap between students, alumni, staff and faculty. We'll describe how we've grown the UCLA Dinner for 12 Strangers program to 300 dinners per year, all around the world. We'll offer advice on host recruitment, student attendance and use of technology. We'll also facilitate discussion for schools that have similar programs to share their best practices and challenges.

Learn about Inside MSU, a program that provides a unique inside look at campus for admitted students. A panel of current student ambassadors share anecdotes on academics, student life and housing, followed by an in-depth question and answer session. Attendees are then led on a walking tour of significant campus facilities and then handed off to representatives from Financial Aid and Study Abroad for additional presentations. Learn how to take this program back to your campus and make it applicable to your prospective students.

Extreme Makeover: Fundraising Edition-Redesigning Finals Week Survival Kits
The sale of Finals Week Survival Kits is the primary fundraiser for the University of Portland Student Alumni Association. An analysis of the program during summer 2008, however, revealed that sales steadily declined, and in recent years this fundraiser barely broke even. Find out how SAA successfully redesigned the fundraiser over the course of two years, transforming it into a program that generated $11,000 profit during the 2009-2010 year. We'll discuss the successful transformation, challenges and cautionary tales.

Launching a Traditions Challenge Program
Every institution is defined by its traditions, past and present. Each tradition gives light to something unique and meaningful to that particular campus. Learn how the students of CATS (Connecting Alumni to Students) took the idea of a Traditions Challenge program and launched a campus-wide phenomenon. From the research needed to compile a traditions book and the struggles of financing the project to the excitement of releasing the final product full scale, learn how you can bring a traditions challenge program to life on your campus.

Bison & Beyond: How to Plan a Senior Send-Off that is Out of this World
Blast off with the NDSU Bison Ambassadors in their quest to celebrate the class of 2010's "giant leap" into the real world. This collaboration between the NDSU Alumni Association, Office of the President, Career Center, Bookstore, Office of Admission and Dining Services created the ultimate fun atmosphere. This year's mission: to send seniors into the final frontier in style with t-shirts, games, prizes and photos with our star mascot, Thundar. With over 500 seniors in attendance, the NDSU Bison Ambassadors' mission was accomplished.

Managing a Growing Campaign
Starting a philanthropic campaign can be a challenging task, but an exciting one when the campaign-due in part to your hard work-becomes a campus tradition. This session tracks the accomplishments of the K-State PROUD campaign in its first four years and identifies how the campaign components have evolved. We will discuss challenges faced in a new campaign, including continued participation, as well as creating a trademark and establishing corporate partnerships.

The Greatest Show on Earth!
Launch a revenue-generating Student Alumni Association. This session offers an overview of UT Arlington's open membership program. UT Arlington's SAA became the largest campus organization in one month. Launched in June of 2008, the Student Alumni Association has more than 2,300 members. Learn the tricks of the trade.

A Balancing Act: Developing Large Scale Student-to-Alumni Networking Events
Formal? Casual? Will the students show? What's in it for alumni? Developing large scale student-to-alumni networking events can be a challenge for anyone. Take a lesson from Boston University's Student Alumni Association who will detail the particulars of two events-Strike Up a Conversation, a fun, casual event held in the fall for students to start developing their networking sills and Connect for Success, a career mentoring event. This presentation will explain how each of these events was created, planned and successfully completed by students and how you can make it work for your institution.

Developing Your Membership Recruitment Process
Looking to increase your organization's recruitment potential? The University of Northern Iowa Student Admissions Ambassadors (SAA) have honed the recruitment process through an initial PR drive, an information session and applicant interviews. SAA's recent spring recruitment drives have been successful, averaging over 95 applicants for a very limited number of positions. PR is an integral part of our recruitment process and the perception of an organization's brand plays a large role in recruiting applicants. This session is relevant to CASE ASAP participants looking to improve their membership recruitment process.

Surviving and Thriving in the Recession
Even though budget cuts have impacted many departments and student groups on our campus, we made sure that ours was not one of them. This year, SAA was able to enlist support from alumni, neighboring businesses and campus partners to retain valuable programs, building stronger relationships and increasing our visibility in the process. Schools feeling the pain of budget constraints will learn how to approach businesses and alumni for support and how to target the right sponsors-on and off campus-for events.

A Shared Vision
Every year, the Student-Alumni Council elects a new leadership team including an executive board and team of directors that will serve over the next school year. The Exec, Director Retreat is a weekend spent away from campus where these elected leaders form their vision for the next year, set goals and learn to work together. This session will discuss not only what the weekend entails, but why it is important to have a shared vision and how it positively impacts the organization.

Tuition Runs Out Day (TROD) at Xavier University is an eye-opening annual tradition that educates students about just how far their tuition dollars go. Our Student Alumni Association advertises and raises awareness about alumni donations to encourage students to give back upon graduation. Participants will learn how to execute a successful campus-wide event, plan effectively with a small budget and educate fellow students in a fun way about the importance of alumni participation. We'll share the secrets that keep Xavier students waiting for TROD all year.

Islander Revue: Putting the "Fun" in Fundraisers
The Student Foundation Association successfully hosted its 10th annual Islander Revue in October 2009-a talent competition that allows student organizations on campus to compete for monetary awards. The competition raised $5,940 for the Student Foundation. During this session you will learn what it takes to plan a talent competition, discuss event expenses, review the results we have seen and find ways to optimize results.
