Professor Datin Dr Jamaliah Mohd Ali Professor Jamaliah attended the University of London Institute of Education, the University of Leicester, UK ,and received her doctorate at the University of Malaya. She has previously been appointed positions with University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, University of California at Berkeley, University of Oslo, Norway and Nihon University, Japan. Prof. Jamaliah is the author of several books and articles in the field of Pragmatics and Cross Cultural Communication Studies. Currently, she lectures at University of Malaya and sits on the Review Panel of the International Journal of Cross Cultural Communication, Goteborg University. She was president of the Malaysian Reading Association (1992-2002) and chair of the International Development in Asia Committee for the Promotion of Reading within the Asian region (1999-2000). She is also a member of the Board of the National Council for the Promotion of Reading, Ministry of Education, Malaysia. |

Associate Professor Dr Zubaidah Ibrahim-Bell Dr Zubaidah Ibrahim-Bell is an alumna of University of Malaya (UM) and is a member of the editorial board for UM Alumni newsletter, the Titian. Her academic background is varied: from political science, TESL, TMFL (teaching Malay as a foreign language), to translation and interpreting studies. She has taught translation studies at UM since 1990, and her doctorate on court interpreting in Malaysia (PhD 2002) has led to publications at John Benjamins, and Gallaudet University Press. From 2005 to 2008, she taught Malay language and culture at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Seoul, Korea). Currently she heads a research project on Malaysian Sign Language at UM and has chaired the first international seminar in Malaysia on Deaf Empowerment through Sign Language research. |

Mr Joseph Beyel Joseph Beyel has thirty-five years of philanthropic development experience for several of the United States' most prestigious higher education institutions. In 2006 he moved to the UK after being appointed director of development at The University of Nottingham. In March 2009, Beyel returned to the United States and continues to serve Nottingham as its director of international development. He is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the university’s philanthropic fundraising and alumni relations in North America and Asia. |

Jan Drew Jan Drew has been in the international education industry since 1996 as an International Student Adviser and in marketing and international development roles before relocating to KL in February 2007 to take up the University of Melbourne's strategic position of Regional Director (Malaysia and Singapore) which includes Brunei. Jan's current role is to maintain the existing and develop new relationships with all the university's stakeholders in the region, including potential students and their families, the agent representative network, alumni, educational institutes and government and corporate partnerships. Passionate about international education, experiential learning and global mobility of students, she has degrees in Education from Deakin University and a Masters in International Education from Monash. |

Mr Loy Teik Inn Mr Loy Teik Inn has been in the education industry for over four years and currently oversees all marketing activities at Taylor’s University College in his capacity as vice president of institutional marketing. Having completed his tertiary education from Boston University in the United States, Teik Inn has gained considerable experience in marketing for various industries from credit cards, retail, leisure, finance and education. Appointed to the board of Taylor’s Education Berhad since 2003, Teik Inn is also the current president of the Taylor’s Alumni Association. |

Ms Julie Mannion Julie Mannion is alumni relations manager at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. Previously she was faculty administration manager, executive officer to the vice chancellor at QUT and a teacher. She is a board member of the Zonta Club of Brisbane, and was a member of the organising committee for the Australian Universities International Alumni Convention (AUIAC) in 2006 and for the ADAPE International Conference in 2008. Her qualifications include a Certificate of Teaching, bachelor's degree, graduate diploma in commercial computing and a master's degree in business administration (with distinction). |

Ms Toni Mullen Toni Mullen has a strong belief—a passion if you will—in international education. As an Adult Third Culture Kid (ATCK) with experiences in Bogotá and Tokyo, she firmly believes that international education provides perspectives needed to solve worldwide issues. Being an alumna of the American School in Japan, she is well connected to ATCKs across the globe and she and her family are long-standing attendees at ASIJ reunions. Additionally, having taught high school special education classes and introduced a study skills class into the curriculum of the International School of Bangkok, Jakarta International School and the International School of Kuala Lumpur, Toni is familiar with serving the individual needs of children as well as the marketing component of international schools. Securing the position of the Director of Alumni Affairs four years ago for the International School of Kuala Lumpur, Toni was charged with initiating office procedures and logistics and designing a long-range plan to reconnect and engage alumni (students, parents and faculty) on a worldwide basis. In addition to maintaining the alumni website pages and orchestrating alumni gatherings, this year's major event will be the ISKL's 45th Anniversary celebration which will formally launch its annual fund. |

Associate Professor Dr Kamila Ghazali As the Director of the ICR, Kamila oversees the administration of international and local linkages which the University of Malaya formally initiates through Memoranda of Understanding. In addition, her responsibility includes establishing corporate and media relations for perception management. ICR is the central consulting office for protocol and event management specifically as the events involve members of the royalty and heads of nations. By profession, Kamila is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics and holds a PhD in Linguistics. Her area of academic expertise is critical discourse analysis and sociolinguistics. Her research is in political discourse, media discourse, and ethnolinguistics delving into the languages of the Orang Asli.

Ms Wan Mazni Binti W Mohd Woojdy Wan Mazni manages administrative matters, alumni events, fundraising and communications to foster a strong relationship between alumni and the University of Malaya. She places importance in cultivating awareness in students as future alumni. Friends of the university are a welcome asset in their alumni activities to enhance goodwill relations towards the development of the university. She considers advancement programmes as fascinating and an opportunity for alumni involvement. |

Mr Ricky Cheng Ricky Cheng was appointed as director to establish the Office of Institutional Advancement in The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2003. His responsibility covers all areas of advancement, including major gifts, annual programmes, planned gifts and stewardship. His extensive business experience in running a successful family enterprise provided the essential ingredients for an advancement career in higher education. Cheng is passionate about improving higher education through successful advancement programmes. |

Associate Professor Teo Choo Soo Dr. Teo is an internationally recognized leader who is actively involved in a range of professional organisations including the World Dental Federation (FDI) and the International College of Dentistry. He has served as a commissioner in alumni relations for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and played an influential role in the establishment of CASE Asia Pacific Secretariat in Singapore. He innovated the building of the Shaw Foundation Alumni House – an iconic building on the National University of Singapore campus and the first purpose-built alumni house in Asia-Pacific. |
