Booking and Registration

Delegates

1. What does my registration fee include?

  • Main conference registration fee includes:

- Access to all sessions in the main conference, Tuesday 1 - Thursday 3 September (and schools track), refreshments and lunch on the aforementioned dates

- The welcome reception on Tuesday 1 September and the gala dinner on Thursday 3 September

  • Schools conference registration fee includes:

- Access the schools conference sessions on Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 September (and main conference sessions), refreshments and lunch on the aforementioned dates and the schools conference networking drinks reception on Wednesday 2 September

  • Newcomers Pre-conference registration fee includes:

- Access to the Newcomers pre-conference programme from 1pm Monday 31 August - 12pm Tuesday 1 September, refreshments and lunch on the aforementioned dates and the networking dinner with evening entertainment on Monday 31 August.

  • Leadership Pre-conference registration fee includes:

Access to the Leadership pre-conference programme from 9:30am to 12:30pm on Tuesday 1 September, refreshments and an exclusive lunch on the same date, prior to the main conference plenary.

2. How do I register?
From the main page for the Annual Conference choose the programme that you would like to register. Scroll to the bottom of this page and click on ‘login to register'. You will then be prompted to enter your CASE login details. Your username is your email registered with us.

3. I've forgotten my password.
Simply click on the ‘forgotten my password' link on the login screen and you will be prompted to enter your username. An email will then be sent to you with your password.

4. I want to attend the Annual Conference but I'm not registered with CASE. My organisation is a member, what do I do?
You can register your details with us via Kate Wallace or the membership team by emailing your details to europe@case.org. We can then ensure you are registered at the correct rate.

5. Can I register for the conference to attend for one or two days?
We encourage delegates to attend the annual conference for the full three days to make the most of the sessions and networking opportunities on offer. We do appreciate that this is not always possible so registration for one or two days will be available to book from early July. To register for one day only please email europe@case.org.

6. Can I share my registration with a colleague?
No.
For health and safety and security reasons it is prohibited for delegates to share registration.

7. What is the latest date that I can register?
Registration is open until Friday 28 August 2015, however online registration will close on 14 August and after this date we cannot guarantee your name will be in the delegate list due to printing deadlines.

8. Is there a discount available for group bookings?
Yes.
There is a discount of £10 per delegate when you register three or more delegates from the same institution at the same time. The discount will be applied at the end of the booking on the ‘confirm your registrations' page.
Please note that this discount is available to CASE members only and will be applied to your order at the check-out screen. (Please note: the discount is calculated from a base amount in US Dollars ($) and may vary slightly due to current exchange rates.)

9. How do I register multiple delegates?
Once you have logged in to the registration page, you be given the option to register yourself only, yourself and colleagues or your colleagues only.
Select the relevant option and you will then be able to register multiple delegates.

10. Is there an early bird discount?
Yes.
The early bird rate for members is £680 (standard rate £710), and for non-members is £910 (standard rate £955) if you book by 5 June 2015.

11. Can I register before the early fee deadline and pay later?
No.
In order to benefit from the early fee registration discount, payment must be received before the deadline.

12. How can I pay the registration fees?
Payment of registration fees can be made by credit card or bank transfer.
To pay by credit card you can register online.

To pay by invoice, email europe@case.org and make sure you include: which part/s of the conference you are booking (Schools Conference, Main Conference, Newcomer Pre-conference / Leadership Pre-conference); the full names of attendees, their job titles, email addresses, and access or dietary requirements.

13. Can I register on site?
No.
We require all delegates to register prior to the conference.

14. Can I buy additional gala dinner or welcome reception tickets?
Yes.
Additional gala dinner tickets are priced at £90 per person.
Additional welcome reception tickets are priced at £45 per person. Contact europe@case.org to book.

15. Will I receive a confirmation after I have finished registering online?
Yes.
A confirmation email will be sent to you on completion of your registration.

16. If I book a place at the Conference but later find out I am unable to attend, can someone take my place?
Yes.
The value of your booking will be transferred to the person taking your place from the same institution. The request to make changes to your booking should be made in writing. Please email europe@case.org.

17. Registration Policy - discounts and cancellations
A group discount of £10 per person is available for three or more people from the same institution registering at the same time. This discount is available to CASE members only and will be applied to your order on the check-out screen. (please note: the discount is calculated from a base amount in US Dollars ($) and may vary slightly due to current exchange rates.)

Please note, our cancellation policy is as follows:

If CASE receives your cancellation before 30 June 2015 you will receive a full refund.
If CASE receives your cancellation after 30 June 2015 but before 9 August 2015, you will be refunded your registration fee less a 20% processing fee.
If CASE receives your cancellation after 9 August 2015, you will NOT receive a refund.
"No-shows" will not receive a refund.

3. Travelling to Manchester

By Train
Most major cities in the UK have direct train services into Manchester. There are four key train stations in Manchester city centre - Deansgate, Piccadilly, Oxford Road and Victoria. Of these, Piccadilly attracts the most visitors' and is the main arrival point into the city centre.

By Plane
Manchester Airport is the only global gateway to Northern England. You can visit Manchester Airport's website to find out more about flights to Manchester.
From the airport, trains to the city centre run every 15 minutes into Piccadilly train station; the average journey time is 20 minutes. Alternatively you can jump into a taxi to the city centre.

By Car
Manchester is at the heart of the Northwest's motorway network with easy access from all directions onto the M60, the city's orbital motorway. Once on the M60 exit at Junction 12 and join the M602 signposted towards the city centre.
Follow the A57 straight on from the end of the M602 passing under a railway bridge before taking the left hand exit to merge onto the A56 Bridgewater Way.
Turn right onto Whitworth Street West at Deansgate station and then turn left onto Albion Street.
The entrance to the Manchester Central Car Park is through the next set of traffic lights on the left, opposite The Bridgewater Hall.
If you are using sat nav, type in M2 3GX which will take you to the car park at Manchester Central.

Local Travel

By Metroshuttle
Metroshuttle buses are free and link the city centre's main rail stations, shopping areas and businesses.

Metrolink is a convenient tram network serving Manchester city centre and further afield.
Metrolink runs every few minutes from early morning until late in the evening. You don't need a timetable, just turn up, buy your ticket and the next Metrolink will be along shortly.
Metrolink operates through both Piccadilly and Victoria stations. Manchester Central's nearest Metrolink stop is St Peter's Square. From there, it's just a few minutes on foot, right behind the Midland Hotel.

By Taxi
Black cab taxis are readily available at Manchester Airport and both Piccadilly and Victoria train stations and around the city centre.

Accommodation

1. Can I book accommodation through CASE Europe for the conference?
No.
CASE Europe does not book accommodation for delegates joining the Annual Conference. However, on behalf of CASE Europe, accommodation partner HelmsBriscoe have negotiated preferential rates at a number of hotels in Manchester to suit all tastes and budgets.
Rooms are available from £60 per night upwards and are available to book on a first come first served basis.

**Hotel accommodation policies
Each hotel has its own booking and payment policy. The policy of the hotel you are booking at will be made clear at the time of booking. A detailed confirmation will be sent to you by email as soon as the booking is confirmed.

Conference Information

1. Will we get a copy of the programme before we get to the conference?
The programme will be available online prior to the event, and will be updated regularly. The programme is subject to change and CASE Europe maintains the right to amend the programme at any time.

2. Badges and other materials
A name badge and conference bag will be provided on registration at the conference. The name badge must be worn at all times and is to be visible both inside the meeting rooms and sessions, as well as at all events organised during the conference. Please ensure you notify us of any changes to your name, job title or institution so there are no mistakes on the day. Email europe@case.org to update your details or log in to the website.

3. Will there be internet access?
All delegates will have access to free Wi-Fi throughout the conference venue and an internet café will be located within the exhibition hall. Details to access the Wi-Fi will be given out at registration.

4. How do we register at the conference?
Registration will start at 11:30 on Tuesday 1 September. The opening plenary session starts at 13:00. On arrival, please go to the relevant registration desk to collect your badge and conference bag.

5. Will presentations from sessions be made available after the event?
Presentations, where permission has been given by the speaker to share their slides, will be available on the CASE Community for the CASE Europe Annual Conference after the conference.

6. Can I access the presentations if I did not attend the Conference?
Presentations are only available to paying delegates. If you were a paying delegate, but were unable to attend on the day, you will still receive an email with a link to available presentations.

7. How can I get in touch with a speaker from the Conference?
Where permission is given, contact email addresses can be found on the delegate list you receive in your delegate bag at conference registration. If the speaker you wish to contact has not given permission to share their details, please email europe@case.org and we can pass your details on the relevant person. You may also contact speakers and delegates through the CASE Community.

Booking: Speaker Queries

1. I am speaking at the conference - do I still need to register?
You will receive individual correspondence from the Educational Programmes Team regarding your registration. If you have any questions or queries, please email europe@case.org.

2. I would like to speak at the conference - can I still apply to speak?
We send out a call for papers earlier in the year, and the deadline has now passed. If you submitted an application to speak prior to the deadline, and have not yet heard from the Educational Programmes team, please email your details to europe@case.org.

Visa Queries

1. How do I apply for a visa to visit the United Kingdom?
A valid passport is required for citizens of all countries entering the UK. Citizens of certain countries and territories may need a visa to visit or transit the UK. If you are not sure if you need to apply for a visa or need further information about applying for one please click here for information.

We advise that you contact your local embassy for full and official instructions on the specific visa regulations and application procedures that apply to you.

2. Where can I get a Conference invitation letter so that I can apply for a visa?

Registered delegates can download an invitation letter to support the VISA application process if needed. Once you are registered for the conference, you will autimatically be added to the CASE Community for the Conference, where you will be able to download the invitation letter. Please click here to download the invitation letter via the CASE Community (you will need your email and CASE password to log in).

Please note that these letters are only available following receipt of full payment for your registration.

About Manchester

Weather/ Climate
The weather in Manchester in September is generally warm, however rain showers do occur and evenings can be chilly so make sure you pack an umbrella and coat.

Time Zone
The time zone in Manchester in August/September is British Summer Time (BST) which is one (+1) hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Banks and Currency Exchange
The currency of England is GBP Sterling (£). You will find cash machines/ATMs at most banks, hotels, and shopping areas around Manchester.

Smoking
Since 1 July 2007, the smoking ban has been in place across the whole of England and you can no longer smoke in any public buildings. For restaurants and hotels there will be designated smoking areas.

Customs
There are certain restrictions on what you may bring into UK aside from your own personal effects. There are regulations concerning pets, livestock, firearms, prescription drugs, plants and meat products. Electricity
English appliances operate on 230 volts (50Hz).
Electrical plugs for 230 volts are three rectangular prongs that form a triangle. If these are different from the ones used in your country, you will need a socket converter/ plug adaptor.

VAT Information
The rate of VAT for goods and services in the UK is 20%. Restaurants must; by law, include VAT in their menu prices.

Insurance
Participants are advised to provide their own personal travel insurance. The organisers cannot be held responsible for any personal damages or losses.
